Micta was given over as a ward of the Church of Holy Vigil when she was very small. The church resides near the borderlands of Chaos and strives to root out any individual that would travel from the Hills in order to sew corruption and deceit upon the good people. Mica grew up within the church but was shunned by others due to the nature of her being abandoned. Her orc mother was accused of murdering her human father before fleeing and never being heard from again. Details are murky and Micta grew up with the taunting of her being just as savage as her mother. Wards of the church underwent strict training to serve the church in all things and it was their sworn duty to become those that would defend good against constant evil. Micta soon found herself in training to become a Paladin, but struggled with authority and it became clear that she didn’t fight for idealism. She was too much of an individual and struggled with being honorable for honor’s sake. She didn’t understand why she couldn’t throw sand the eye of an enemy if it brought the enemy down in the end. As long as evil was defeated, what did it matter?
One night she was abducted and underwent a secret ceremony in order to become an Inquisitor initiate; a holy operative that answered to no ideals in order see to the will of the church be done. They knew that idealism had its place, but sometimes those ideals got in the way of the big picture and so an Inquisitor was brought in to make the tough decisions or to do things that a Paladin would never do on principal. She was branded with the holy symbol of the Moon Goddess and her wounds were dressed with linen soaked in vinegar and salt, so that the would heal red and inflamed. Unlike her Paladin brethren who worshiped the truth and light of the Sun god, she was indoctrinated into trusting the darkness and shadows of the Moon goddess. Here she would operate with certainty and discretion and stop at nothing in order to see her orders executed as efficiently as possible. There is no love lost between inquisitors or Paladins. Even though they support the same order, tensions are high if they should ever encounter each other on the King’s road or in the pub at the end of a long day. Paladins see Inquisitors as bullies border who force their will on other people, while Inquisitors see Paladins as cowards that hide behind their virtues. Inquisitor was a position that suited Micta well and after her first orders from the church (orders TBD), she traveled for many days before she found what she was looking for; a mismatched group of adventurers overlooking the Keep on the Borderlands.
