For 25Aug06:
In lieu of a better plan, here's an idea for what to do next:
Our specific missive from the leadership of Drellin's Ferry was to make the trade-route (the name of which, I don't recall) secure. I suggest we bait the hobbies by forming a caravaan to [trade partner] and setting out on said trade-route, maybe recruiting some able-bodied and/or knowledgeable townsfolk to help. The "delivery" could be legitimate or faked...either would work. At best, we could draw out the enemy and track them to their source. At worst, we'll learn what the specific nature of the threat is.

Aethelric: Bah, that reeks of deception and I oppose such a plan. We have tactical intelligence from the map we aquired that identifies where these base villains plan to strike so the logical course of action would be to strike first ... we should take the battle into the heart of the Enemy, not pretend to be merchants.
Onward! For glory and honor!

After checking the map...
Drellin's Ferry is "scheduled" for an attack on "Day 5" (whenever that is). The map also indicates that "someone" is to hold a particular bridge (Skull Gorge) for the whole force to cross, on their way to Drellin's Ferry. Maybe we should make for the bridge and see what can be done about it, or at least recon that direction, to determine where on the "schedule" the enemy is. If we deny them the bridge, they'll have to cross through the mountains and ford the river, which will seriously screw up their timing, at the least. Otherwise, we can wait for them to arrive at Drellin's Ferry and prep the defenses there.
Since Ludgar has the Craft (Siege Weapons) skill, we might be able to slap together a catapult or two, if we have time.

Maybe we should make for the bridge and see what can be done about it, or at least recon that direction, to determine where on the "schedule"; the enemy is. If we deny them the bridge, they'll have to cross through the mountains and ford the river, which will seriously screw up their timing, at the least. Aye! Now that is a plan that I can rally behind. Much glory could be earned in such a action, and is far more befitting our talents than playing at being merchants. It might behoove us to also seek to recruit a replacement for poor, lost Alfredo who died ... honorably.

I don't know if it's such a good idea for SQ's new character to head for a bridge. Don't we all remember what happened the last time one of his characters tried to blow up a bridge?

Assuming we believe last week's attack to be a "preparatory" raid, as opposed to the full-on invasion, we could still move on with our previous plan of attack, to move out to the Skull Gorge, to reconnoiter and/or destroy the bridge there. Of course, this would leave the town more-or-less without Hero™ support (not Hero-Support™), and more vulnerable to the gobbies' inevitable follow-up raid(s).
So...do we stay, or do we go?

For those that are just catching up... ;D
We traveled the Dawn Way up to Talar, and took the north road toward Rhest. Met some foul beasties on the way up and drove them off, and about halfway (?), Llwyll scouted a roadblock ahead. Hobbies have built a wooden wall-fort completely blocking the road, manned by (as far as Llwyll can tell) a couple of hobbie-archers in a tower, and a couple of ogres, with "barrels of spears." Terrain is marshy and relatively flat, IIRC.

Umm...why? I don't see why we can't watch BSG later in the week, as much as I hate to . If we're going to chop the game up even more than it already has been, we'd be better off moving it to Saturday. We get little enough done as it is...

Since it's doubtful anyone else is even reading this ...I'll try to help: I am not starting at 9:00. If the rest of the group decides to start at 9:00, they will do so without me. Starting at 9:00 would be a complete waste of time, in my opinion.

Agreed. But I don't want to keep stopping to watch BSG every Friday and I think SQ is the only other person besides me who is uninterested in BSG . So whats one to do

Right... Next week, we're playing something. If Tom can't wait until later in the week to watch BSG, then we'll play without him. I've got one session of mine ready to go...maybe I can have two by the end of the week. Is Iuz the Old about ready to go?

I think Iuz is looking to play. I offered to run. I could take over for Tom. Not the red hand campain, but it would use the same characters.
I got some stuff ready for a group about 6-7, so I could just pop it in. I've also come up with a way to work around the red hand thing w/o just saying "it's 6 months after the red hand thing...you are in a bar."
If anyone is looking to change there char around, I guess now would be the time to do it and let me know.
