"…Hello there!"Not going to do prose, here (too complicated with multiple people responding)—just answers, to set things up. The man indicated that he would only be able to speak your language for a limited time, ~one hour or so, when the pipe runs out. He introduced himself as Sir Weland, Knight-Magister of the Mithrite Order, and the others as his retainers (though they were not wearing their traditional Order mantles, for "security purposes," since they were in enemy-held territory). This land is called the Hessenmark, in the Borelia region on the northern coasts of the Holy Corran Empire, in specific, the Kingdom of Frotharingia. Have you found any other survivors like us recently?… Why did they rescue us? You don't have some sort of malevolent master plan that's going to end up pissing us off, do you? No others were encountered, nor expected to be. He was instructed by the Black Wizard to recover four godlings from the sea when the Misty Isle was awakened, and to take those godlings as his retainers, to prepare them for what was to come. And how the hell did we survive in the first place? My arms and legs were crippled ... and now they're not...Do you know what's up with our freaky eyes? You are what is referred to as a "godling," as these traits are known to passed on by the gods. The eyes are the mark that identifies them. GM is debating whether to go ahead and pass on the details of those abilities that you, no doubt, have guessed that you have acquired. He identifies this as the Misty Isle, seat of the ancient civilization of the Mariners that ruled these lands long ago. More story to follow… What is it about those peaches? He ponders the possibility of the PCs eating from the Elf Tree having caused the destruction of the Isle, and whether there may be more repercussions. What the frak were those gobliny things? Maybe we should ask about the troll too. He initially dismisses the idea of "goblins" and "trolls," as the Fairy Truce prevents them from stepping foot in the Realm of Man; he finds this news very curious and disturbing… Who was the Red Witch Ghost chick? He supposes this must be the Witch Queen, Akhôriel, last Empress of the Mariners. But she was said to have been destroyed 700 years ago… What was the book she was referring to? He believes this must be a reference to the Witch Queen's Book of Shadows—no doubt, she intends to use it to restore her back to corporeal form. Who were the Bad Guys that Starbuck & Co. rescued us from? Not that we're complaining or anything, just curious. He identifies the enemy as the Bjornings, a nearby tribe of descendants of the Mariners, living on the islands just north of the mainland, who had been good trading partners with the region until the Emperor left on crusade 2 years ago, taking much of the fighting men with him, leaving the countryside vulnerable. The Bjornings were brought in as mercenaries to aid a local rebellion against the Emperor, but found the vulnerability too good to pass, and began raiding. You should have some time left, if(!) this raises a few more questions. Some of the answers may be deferred until later, in-game.

So, I take it we're gonna have to learn the language the hard way, eh?
Um ... do they have a map?
Awesome heaves a sigh of sadness at the loss of an old friend and a couple of new ones.
But who is the Black Wizard? And what exactly does he mean by "preparing them for what was to come"? I hope that's not like the book "To Serve Man" in that Twilight Zone episode...
"Godling"? Awesome. But why weren't any of our other fellow survivors turned into a "godling"? What makes us special (apart from being PCs, that is)? And what traits does he know about?
I say hold off and reveal said abilities incrementally as they make themselves known...unless Sir Weland already knows what we're supposed to be capable of doing.
Uh ... oops? They were mighty tasty ... but "Elf" Tree?
Looks like they're violating said truce since we ... used to have the bruises and scars to show it. And we've got that troll rope, right?
Well, she seemed fairly ... active for somebody who was destroyed. Kind of intangible though. And able to communicate with Sabroski ... that traitor...
BTW, when the "spell" or whatnot begins to wear off, Awesome is gonna make sure to ask if they can point him to someplace where he can clean up...

So, I take it we're gonna have to learn the language the hard way, eh? Well, it may not be easy FYI, according to RAW:Maps exist, but aren't common—may be able to come across one in the future.Even Sir Weland doesn't know exactly, and has only interacted with him through his agents, of whom Sir Weland is one (a bit like The Shadow; Agents of the Black Wizard do not speak of their service to outsiders, but he has been encouraged to speak of him to the PCs). AKA The EyelessNot being present at the time, he cannot say in what manner they were "gifted," or whether they alone were—it is possible the others were as well, and may yet live. but who knows where the tides may have taken them, if soDeferred.Deferred.Troll-rope is very valuable in the right circles—it never stops growing, unless it's burned at both ends—but possession is frowned upon by the Corran ChurchPlenty of time for cleaning up, resting, eating, etc.—his servants will see to them. You'll be sent off to bed shortly, and resume discussion on the morrow.

This prompted some additional questions, at least from me. - What is the Mithrite Order?
- The Eyeless? Is that how godlings are known to lay people?
- I'd ask if this Black Wizard is a good guy, but know I wouldn't get an unbiased response to that one...
- What do you mean by deferred?
- What is the Corran Church?

What is the Mithrite Order? For over a thousand generations the Mithrite wizards have been the guardians of peace and justice in the Realm of Man. More to come…The Black Wizard has never been identified as a "godling," but the "Eyeless" reference is a result of his eyes never being seen, always hidden in shadow or somesuch—in which case he could be a godling, and noone would know.Deferred.This means it's a "long story" that I haven't decided whether to tell here, or in-game, or whatever—so the answer is deferred until I decide. Side Note: The words coming out of sir Weland's mouth do not match what you are hearing, like he's been "dubbed over" in another language. Also, the others don't seem to understand what he's saying.

For over a thousand generations the Mithrite wizards have been the guardians of peace and justice in the Realm of Man. Snicker. Does he really say that? Because I honestly can't see any one of the characters not chortling or giggling if he says that...

Do the rest of you guys have any questions? I think we should hold off on showing the box thingy 'cause we still don't know if this dude is playing the "I'm a good guy so you can trust me ... until I get what I want and then, mine is an evil laugh!" card yet so...
