While preparing for this weeks one off, I got excited about things and I think we can officially put this game in line behind Knights of the Old Republic. That is if everybody is still interested after the one off this week. A couple of things as I start doing the preparation: - Would you guys like to be together from the start as a group or would you like to start as individual heroes and then are brought together in the first session?
- When you are inevitably together what is your group's name?
- One other thing, We will see how things work on friday but I have a minor concern that there is not enough diversity in the group's abilities and that there might be some overlap and general stepping on of toes.
- I am also concerned that the amount of skills (Medicine?!, Investigate, Gather info, etc.) that the group has is a little low.
As for medicine the only thing that seems plausible to me is that Malevoiy's character is a perennnial med student . We can discuss it on Friday. But feel free to chime in on anything before that .

My initial response to the questions: - I think I'd like for the first real session to be the Origin Story of the Team (banding together to fight off some terrible evil, of course), but if we want to start out together, that's cool.
- Youch. A name? Most of the goods ones are taken, really, so we'll need to go for something like Team Vanguard or The Cadre or something like that. Not enough of us to be a Legion of anything, really...
- If you need me to come up with a completely different character concept to help the group out in that regard, it's not a big deal for me. Frankly, I don't even recall what everyone is playing apart from me being a flying brick, gigermann being a Guyver/Spider-Man type, and magman being ... a teleporting martial artist? I have no recollection at all of what malevoiy is doing...
- Again, let me know regarding the skills and I can tweak it.

Malevoiy was going to be a psionic character. Things might be ok on all fronts I just want people to be prepared to consider changes if it becomes necessary. We can revisit this once I recheck everybody's character.

So, it effectively boils down to: - Rigil - Paragon type
- gigermann - Spider-Man
- magman - teleporting martial art
- malevoiy - psi
Huh. Weird make-up.

Still, if there is an Archetype that you think we absolutely need, I can change my character as necessary. And speaking of, am I the only one with a character ready to go?

Per our discussion regarding various elements, I'm going to use the Battlesuit archetype instead, so I'll be the equivalent of an Iron Man character for those of you unfamiliar with it. He has no powers outside of the suit and it will take longer than a Round to "transform."

Very useful. Thanks . ;D Looking at wolverine I don't think McNurlen did regen right. I think you have to buy each condition you want to be able to regenerate. (Bruised Staggered Unconscious injured.)

At the moment, he's the only person whose character I haven't built in the Hero Lab stuff, so it might be a good idea for him to post what he's got so I can run it through said program and make sure everything works out correctly. Do we have anything resembling hard copy for Kato? I am esitant about McNurlen taking regeneration. one I'm not sure it fits the character concept and is kind of just something cool to add to a character. Especially when core martial artist features like strike or something like Chi(from ultimate powers basically Boost and Healing together as alternate powers) the teleporting thing works and gives his character something out of the ordinary for monks without stretching things too much. Also a feat i am seeing a lot for monks is startle( lets you use intimidate instead of bluff for feint in combat) Here is the Kung Fu Template from Gamemasters guide:(I am sure he has most of these already but if he doesn't he probably should: Skills Concentration Feats: Defensive attack, Improved Block, Improved critical, improved sunder, improved trip, Instant up, Power attack, startle.
Also I don't know if he took multiple levels of defensive roll or not but that is definitely an option to improve his "staying up" power while staying within character concept. The chi power could help that too.

I tried setting my first character up pretty much as in the core book except I added the teleport aspect. And I was pretty much a chump. So I junked most of the feats I had and went with regeneration, and I am looking at also taking strike.

Based on the gameplay from last night, I'm a bit concerned about the team mechanics (or rather, the lack thereof) of the group we've got going. Right now, we have what amounts to three Scrappers (Kato, Maverick, & Justiciar), a Speeder, a Psi, and a flying Brick/Blaster/Smart Guy ... we don't really have anything tying us together at the moment and limited reasons to function as a group. Too many of our characters appear to be designed as pure Loners (ala Batman) and I'm afraid that's going to lead to some issues down the road.

I would classify Maverick as a blaster, but overall I agree. However part of this is my fault (limited reasons to be together) and I am writing into the plot a possible solution. This is of course contingent upon the PCs actually going along with it, which is by no means a given.
As far as group mechanics, one thing that is definitely lacking is a leader. Both in the spokesman role and in game mechanics. Feats like leadership and inspire would be important for the team leader to take.
Also if you have access to Super Power Team Ups! you should check it out. It lists the roles of a super powered party and even has some maneuvers at the end. Pretty interesting read.
As we go forward I think you should all consider having your character develop into more of a team player. Whether it be by taking a feat like Set up, interpose or teamwork, or simply having your characters personality slowly meshing with the team. It makes sense story wise for you to behave like loners for the time being but as the group works together more and more you should at least have developed a modicum of teamwork.

Looking to get this going again. Aiming for early to mid January so not the next in line but definitely in queue.
WxMan is going to need to think about the kind of super he wants to play and create his 3-3-3.

Are you still using the 2nd edition ruleset or have you upgraded to the 3rd?
Also, what's our current status re: PP?

Still using second edition, at least for the next couple of arcs. As far as PP it varies by person. I will have to go back and double check all that.

What do you have him at? From my estimates its either 160 or 161 for you. 150pp starting + 5pp for quick response on the 3-3-3 + 1pp per session. I think we ended up doing 5 sessions. And then i can't remember if I gave you all an extra for the final session or not.

well it seems the group is losing the psi and the speedster. So losing some versatility. You can do pretty much whatever you want really. I will let you know if what you decide is not going to work, though I don't forsee that being the case. Once you decide what you want to do , you will need to give me your 3-3-3 and background. You will get extra power points for doing so,

Another thing while I am contemplating the concept of the character... What is the moral makeup of the team? Are we talking Superman "Paladin" LG type people or more Rorschach-like in their willingness to do whatever is necessary to get the job done type people?

We haven't really developed a concrete "feel" for the group, but I'd say somewhere between the two. We're certainly not afraid of a little property damage, but we're on otherwise good terms with the local populace, IIRC.

Alright, I was thinking in my character concept and he may be willing to 'torture' the bad guys in order to get more information (ie, really hurt a foot soldier to get info on the 'boss')... I hadn't planned on intentionally harming any 'innocents' though... will that be an issue?
