What if the Taranisians need reconnaissance of the people and cultures of Earth? They might send him "out" to gather data. Could be... Qat'el honestly doesn't discuss the Taranisians very much, or much beyond what is currently needed of StormSurge - probably b/c so much work would overwhelm him if he knew how much was still needed....

What it comes down to is whether or not you want the character to be a hermit or not. If not, then this is a decent excuse to not only get him "out," but to get him in some comedically awkward situations.

Not what he (the Character) wants. What you (the Player) want. I guess I haven't entirely disassociated myself with the character fully yet... What I've been doing is create a character and backstory, then when things go in motion I try and adapt the character to how he would react... so since that is how I setup StormSurge, I tend to follow that character to his logical conclusions....

@rigel,buddha- Thanks for the feedback. Glad you guys like it. WxMAN- Thank you for replying. It seems we aren't exactly on the same page, which is mostly my fault since others are/were struggling with this too. Basically a PCs non-team time is seperated into 2 different categories, downtime and spotlight time. Downtime- static off screen activities like eating sleeping and doing other mundane tasks that would not be given much "screen" time. (Examples from last week, Justicar slept and checked up with his contacts, Maverick worked on his bike, Legionarry and catalyst went to work and slept.) Spotlight time- Dynamic activities where aspects of a character are explored and side plots are developed. Your character is the current focus of the movie/comic book. (Examples from last week: Justicar explored his loner hero aspect, Catalyst investigated some murders and Maverick got to show off some bluffing skills while playing his "roguish" aspect) Now both are important but the spotlight time and aspects are more what I am asking after.

Ohhhh... gotcha... Spotlight time... - Coming to terms with his powers and its limitations (the fact he must be a paragon).. ie wanting to 'mess' with Chris Cirrus... frustrations with capturing criminals when the legal system can so easily be corrupted...
- Investigating the any potential information he can get from Qat'el about the Taranisians, to make sure they are as noble as they seem [they are]
- Getting to know his teammates and kinda learn more about being a 'proper' superhero... since he is new to all of this... and trying to change his frustrations with being a paragon and see things how 'proper' superheros do
Better?

So, a more "actionable" translation: - Practicing w/ powers (Where? How?), pressing the legal system (How?)
- Researching Taranisians (How?)
- Hanging out (or trying to) with the other group members
Right?

Practicing w/ powers (Where? How?) Wherever I am... probably near my house/shed... By just doing things with the weather... ie, seeing how well I can 'control' the wind... seeing how the lightning reacts to different media (frogs? ) Pressing the legal system (How?) Investigating the legal system to get a better understanding of it... Watching to make sure no judges/juries/lawyers/cops/politicians are on the 'take'... Since he is new at this it will probably involve very small scale things, and there isn't a ton of time he has to do this so the actual amount of investigation he is capable of is minimal... Researching Taranisians (How?) Well, trying to get Qat'el to converse with him... asking seemingly unimportant questions to try and dig some info out of him... talking with other researchers, about things we know about what Qat'el has discussed... See if there are any contact any other people or superheros have had with them in the past... Also, @ Josh, I know I got all this in very late to you... so if you need to make my side-plot much more minor this week that's fine, as I know you put a ton of work into the side-plots from what Shelley told me about last week and I don't want you to have to have to rewrite or redo a ton of story to fit me in with this new info I just gave you

Also, and possibly more important: does he patrol for crime? Does he sit in his lair listening to a police scanner waiting for a call? Does he wander the rooftops of bad neighborhoods, watching for an incident to pounce? Does he wander the alleyways, hoping to get mugged? When does he do this stuff? Where?

Even better: Go down your 3x3 list and develop a schedule revolving around those characters. FREX, you apparently have a day-job working for KOMA5—9-5? Where? Also FREX, you have a wife—does she actually see you, or are you always running about?

Does he patrol for crime? Not as such, no... he doesn't have the time... Does he sit in his lair listening to a police scanner waiting for a call? Yes. Well he isn't 'sitting in a lair' so much as he is working in his shed while listening to the scanner Does he wander the rooftops of bad neighborhoods, watching for an incident to pounce? Does he wander the alleyways, hoping to get mugged? When does he do this stuff? Where? Not unless there is a lull in research... as for where, probably he would look for more trouble spots having an influx of violent crimes and then go there

I have a few ideas, but for the most part I don't know if they are exactly what you are looking for. I've read over all your stuff a couple of times and don't really have a handle on your character yet or the direction it wants to go. Maybe it is just one of those things I will have to see in game to really see what you are wanting to do. But regardless, you will have something to do, you won't be excluded and will have the same amount of "camera" time as everyone else. Some of it may just be devoted to a "feeling out" period.

Some notes re: Justiciar and Maverick (as they're the characters whose HeroLab files I have): - After spending 1 point for the Skyscraper HQ, Justiciar still has 2 PP to spend (since Gigermann gained a bonus point for the character portraits.
- We miscalculated. After spending the 3 points for the Luck Control, and 1 point for Skyscraper HQ, Maverick still has two power points to spend since you never got around to spending them from previous sessions.
Regarding Legionary, I spent 1 point for Equipment (sanctum sanctorum to The Sanctum, per approval), and 1 point to pick up Quickness level 1 (mundane tasks at twice normal speed.)

One point is going to the club house and the other will be turned in for equipment points so I can get some armor when I'm in my more vulnerable forms. If Legionary is still willing to make Catalyst something cool, I'd appreciate it. Though I'm not entirely sure on how we proceed with the process of crafting customized armor.

Essentially, I'd use the Inventor feat to develop it and once it worked, you'd spend the PP to Equipment. I'm thinking Forcefield bracelet or gauntlet or something. Activate it and it provides you with additional Toughness 5 (so you'd have a 6 rather than 1.)
Design / Construction Check is DC 15, so I can take a 10 and accomplish this easily.
That's not taking into account any Flaws or Drawbacks we might apply to the field to increase its potency.

Can someone point me to where I can read up on what use my 'Thunder (Dazzle) [Auditory]' for... All I can seem to figure out is that it temporarily knocks out their auditory senses if they fail their reflex safe which gives them a -1 to hit... is that it?

I had planned on doing some fic this week, but Gigermann can attest, I've been insane busy. And generally too tired/uninspired when I get home to do more than either beat up Arkham Asylum inmates or just go to bed early. Tonight looks to be more of that... Alas ...

Question about Powers/Alternate powers.... I have: Weather Control 10 which is listed as 37 PP [2/r] For alternate powers: - Element Control 10 [2/r]
- Fog (Obscure 10) [2/r]
- Winds (Obscure 10) [1/r]
- Lightning (Blast 10) [2/r]
- Thunder (Dazzle 10) [2/r]
- Cold Control 10 [2/r]
- Heat Control 10 [2/r]
- Weather Control 10 - Hamper Move [2/r]
From all I can gather I take the cost of the primary power... 10 x 2 = 20... then I add up each alternate power (including the primary power)'s cost... so that is 8 x 2 = 16 + 1 = 17... 17 + 20 = 37... is that how it works? Furthermore, I can't understand why my Blast 10 has a save DC of 25... the book says it is 10 + ranks.. which is 10 + 10 = 20... where did the extra 5 come from?

It should be 15 + number of ranks, not 10. As to how the alternate power costs works, I just use HeroLabs and let it do the math for me.

I have it on both my laptop and my desktop, but it appears that I can obtain two additional licenses (so it can be used on two other computers) for $10/license. If we need to, I can go ahead and proceed in that area.
Alternately, I could just rebuild your character (or have zenwolf shoot me the POR file) on my version and keep track of it for you like I am with Maverick and Justiciar...

Another question...
Assume I have an Attack Bonus of +5... can I take 5 ranks of Attack Focus (Ranged) feat (pg 56) and get my ranged attack bonus to +10... I assume I can't go over +10 as our power level is 10... right?
