I actually have quite a few characters that I never really got to explore fully, that I wouldn't mind giving another try: - Erunamo (previous Forgotten GreyLance character)—elvish druid
Snaga—"reformed" goblin rogue, tunnel-rat— goblinoids as the campaign bad guys make this one not work well- Uzi—dwarvish ranger
Valsul—half-drow ninja— ECL- Dangus—human barbarian, "historic" Celt (blue-painted, naked in battle, etc.)
- Surion—Paladin

Meh. Bard really isn't me in any facet. Apart from that, I have no idea. None. At all.

I had intended to play a melee rogue because I thought Chris was going to play a fighter. If that's not the case then let me know because I had already started on character ideas. I don't really want to play a fighter since I'm already doing that in the other campaign and I want experience as many classes as possible. I'm not entire comfortable to jump in with casting just yet (though I guess it wouldn't be too bad since we're starting at level 1). I guess I just need confirmation so I can get a character up here. The wheels are turning and I'm ready to run with this...

I'm good with the fighter, although I'm wanting to find some variant that's like the knight or something along those lines...

I'm thinking Swordsage from Tome of Battle, which effectively boils down to blademaster. Considering Episode II era Ben Kenobi as a sort of influence: This weapon is your life.
Presuming we use the standard character generation (4d6 six times, dropping lowest & rerolling 1s.): 11 - [dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6] 12 - [dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6] - reroll [dice=6] 12 - [dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6] - reroll [dice=6] 13 - [dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6] 9 - [dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6] 14 - [dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6] - reroll [dice=6]
Blech. Ah, well. This guy could be ... interesting.[rand=834474045730169145334180763397036565333782661758209387265969917635]

Are we allowing Maneuvers or Skill Tricks?

He's certainly not going to be using LS/DS stuff though. Alignment will probably be Neutral since he doesn't care about anything but concentrating on his Path. I have no idea what a DPS gish is.

I have no idea what a DPS gish is. DPS = Damage per second... typically a high damage, non-tank character who can't get hit all too much... similar to rogue... Gish is slang for a hybrid between a traditional weapon wielder and magic user...

@ SQ
Can we opt to do a point buy to set up our stats or do you want us to roll for them? If you will allow the point buy then how many points can we work with?

Boo! I say roll the dice and play what you get. My guy - calling him Drake right now - ends up being 23 pts with a point buy...

Are we allowing Maneuvers or Skill Tricks? I've always wanted to try those, but I have yet to find myself with a campaign/character with skill-points to blow on that stuff. I think that if skill tricks were part of the original game version, about 60% of existing Feats would have been skill tricks instead.

sadly, I'm not familiar with skill tricks and maneuvers. Sorry. Skill Tricks are pretty simple—mini-Feats that you pay for with skill points. I still think most characters either won't have enough skill points to spare, or will have other priorities.

If the race you are shooting for has a level adjustment that would put it over 1, then it's a no go.

Furthermore... I am unfamiliar with the campaign setting, etc... where can I read up on it? ie.. I don't want to tailor my character for elf killing if this is a world with no elves....

Forgotten GreyLance= Forgotten Realms+ Greyhawk+Dragon Lance+Whatever else. It's a mutt. Just think "generic." Alright... well then I will more directly ask the question... I am *LOOKING* at a cleric... one of the big abilities they have is the "Turn Undead".... I know SQ talked about the beginning being a battle with Orcs(I think?)... so would Turn Undead be useful or would it be better if I swapped it out for a more appropriate alternate class feature...

Naw...no orcs at the beginning, and turn undead is always useful.

So right now it looks like we have:
Shelley - skirmisher (melee) Rigil - skirmisher (melee) Chris3 - melee
right?

I guess, if you look at it tactically, we need two tanks on the front, two 2nd-line/mobility guys (ranged or reach), with the divine/arcane casters at the back—in which case, we need the arcane caster, and another tank. I could maybe bring in the paladin, if it comes to that—depending on what Josh is wanting. OTOH, if I get stuck with the arcane, I suppose I could bring back Walays—could be fun.
Or we could take a different strategy altogether.

wait...we're incorporating dragonlance? does that mean i can play a kender? jk 7=[dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6] 12=[dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6] 17=[dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6] 14=[dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6] 14=[dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6] 15=[dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6] ok...tried the whole "re-roll" thing and i think i screwed it up the orig 4th line of rolls had 2 "1's" in it so that why i just added 2 to the end...if there is an easier way and i need to re-roll then let me know[rand=11310628498904407295269589172676244084999733604496424374124035239]

ok...tried the whole "re-roll" thing and i think i screwed it up You can't change the random seed after it's generated, so you can't change the numbers rolled. Don't forget that if you add a die in between the others, it will not be a new roll—has to be added at the end. To clarify, if you roll something like this: 1 2 3 4 5 6 And you add a die to the end of the first line, you will not end up with this: 1 2 3 X 4 5 6 You will end up with this: 1 2 3 4 5 6 X If you want to re-roll 1s on the same post, they have to be added at the end, separately.

Or we could take a different strategy altogether. Well, Clerics - from what I am seeing - have an extraordinarily complex build process... so I can essentially fill any gap the team needs... I could be melee, I can be ranged, I can be caster... all the while doing some emergency health stuff if needed (but not being the walking "cure wounds")...

I could be melee, I can be ranged, I can be caster Y'know, I've never seen anyone play the Cleric as an archer-type, now that you say that. It's hard to play the "medic" on the front-rank, though—tend to be too "engaged" to divert to emergency aid. That said, they aren't bad fighters, and you're right, that they could probably fit in any tactical rank if you build them correctly. Depends what we end up with, I guess. Still need to hear from Josh.
