The point is, IMO, to have enough extra characters available that nobody is stuck playing a character that doesn't fit the situation, and all the necessary roles can be filled-in when someone's missing. Which isn't to say that having a side-group in Farshore wouldn't be a good idea—we've all lamented not being there much.

i think it's more like what giger was doing with the dispensables...where you could swap out people with the main group if needed...it changes up the group dynamic as well as not getting "stuck" with specific character for the long term...i know i've been mia from the group for a while, but have been dealing with some personal stuff...but i would like this type of gm'ing due to the changing nature of the game from week to week that it would create
