See, I had no recollection of any females, hence my thinking that they were toast (or were possibly going to relocate.) In any event, they are sitting on a Resource, so we'll have to deal with them in some fashion down the road...
As to the mite, I expect the kobolds waited until we left and then killed it. What with them being enemies and all...

Yes, when you went to see the Sootscales for allies the females were in fact brooding. Making a new generation of the Sootscale army. They are also in a mine with resources and your characters know this.
Y'all are going to go Trail of Tears on them, aren't you?

Y'all are going to go Trail of Tears on them, aren't you? Or have Walays dazzle them with Diplomatic bullshit so they become convinced that yes, they did swear fealty to us in the wake of that encounter. Heh. Just as amusing: what if we go all Henry II on them instead? "Will no one rid us of these troublesome kobolds?" And then Tomas, Rikard, and Harriet go forth to level up (or get brutally murdered, which provides us with an appropriate casus belli to move against the kobolds. Note: Andrei is neither smart enough nor crafty enough to come up with something like that; Tess is the same, I think, and Walker doesn't strike me as the type to manipulate stuff like that. So its up the Walays to become the puppet master...

I think we should only use 20k of that right now. We my need some for character resources, if we use it all and then find that we need some funds and have to convert it back to gps we will only get 50% of it's value later and it could also cause unrest by doing that. It will always be easier to add it to our BPs if we need it. I can get on board with that. I disagree in regards to the Tenement because building one increases Unrest by 2. Further, the description for Inn specifically states "Limit Adjacent to 1 House". So I think we need to eat the bullet and spend the 13 BPs to build the Inn (which probably needs to be called "Tyg's Landing", thus explaining the eventual city name) and the House. Add in the 1 BP to "claim" the hex, and we're left with 6 BPs. A Farm or a Fishery will cost 4 BPs, but they'll decrease Consumption by 1 on Upkeep phase, which might be worth it. That would leave us with 2 BPs going into the "turn" which should cover our expenses (unless the dice frak us and we roll "plague!" in terms of Events. Ideally, we need to get our Economy up and running so we can eventually get 27 BPs so we can build the Castle (providing we don't tear down everything for scrap.) As the other Neutral Good PC, I wholeheartedly agree!

Should get a discount on the castle for having the fort already We do. Settlement Terrain Type: Hill+Coast+River+Ruin; Castle is half cost if "ruin" is not scrapped for BPs.

XP, Session Recap, and New NPCs (Borvin, Dragana, and Mila) update. Not overly happy with the recap, but it mirrors how the night went - kind of scattershot - but the coherency should be reestablished next week.

If you like, WxMAN, since I tend to take copious notes during gameplay, I can get a leg up on the recap for you by creating the recap and posting said notes. Then you can use or discard what I post in however it best suits you...

Ha! That's great! With the storm shelter being put in this week and causing me to miss 2 days of work, I've really been getting a lot prep done - things are looking up.

XP and session notes are up.
Next session will begin just after Kundal has expired, the second week in the second month of summer.

We also need to determine what that "random minor magic item" that is in the settlement (from the event) was - it disappears if not purchased before the next Event phase and who knows? We may want to actually buy it...

XP / Recap up. Y'all did level up as expected. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the PC's decided to burn down the entire forest after this fight.

With all of the excitement I forgot to ask your next plans. I'm guessing return to Tiressia, collect the tokens, go to Melianse to replant the trees. Then go home and do kingdom stuff? Assuming things don't go sideways, what then?

Probably exactly that, then retrace our steps (1, 2, Scythetree) to explore those three hexes more thoroughly, maybe do the hex between the evil tree & Beldame, then hit the rattlecaps quest? I'm tempted to go the very orderly way and hit 2, 1, then march past the Landing to the hex next to the wargs & explore that before going south a row of hexes and explore all of those ...

Should we also do some Kingdom building?

Post by Rigil Kent on Jun 30, 2016 19:22:09 GMT -6
That's the plan. Head up to meet with Tiresia about the scythetree, get the tree token things, then east to Melianse to replant the trees, then to the Landing for kingdom checks, then back to Melianse's hex to finish exploring, then Tiresia's hex to explore, then ... somewhere else.

I would also like to stock up on some health potions somewhere. Because I have a feeling we are going to need them. Maybe go see Bokken and ask him about his crazy brother...

By the way, well done on running the NPCs, WxMAN. You do a great job of injecting them with their own personalities which results in us liking or disliking the character based on those merits. Very, very well done.

I've updated the map with my recommendation on "Next steps" ... would probably be good if other players reviewed and chimed in with their approval or disapproval. No, I don't expect us to do this in on fell swoop ... was just figuring best course...

Glad y'all are enjoying it. I'm trying to give the NPCs enough life where they all have their own attitudes, and you'll have to work around, with, or through them as the kingdom grows more. I'm hoping kingmaker continues to shift from the adventurers without ties, to fledgling rulers where the problems become more political, with threats internally as well as externally.
Anyway, just keep letting me know things you'd like me to focus on more, ignore more, change, etc.
XP and adventure summary is up.
A guess from the pace y'all have been setting is about 10-12 more sessions until the end of the chapter unless things bog down or really speed up - just an FYI for whomever is planning on running next.

I have updated the Kingdom Map with the five nations you know of in the area. The characters know quite a bit about Brevoy as many of you are either from that area or have been there many times. Pitax and Varnhold are a mystery as no one has visited from there nor has any envoy from the Shieldlands been sent there. Little is known of Mivon, as only a single envoy has arrived from there in Session 16, one which did not return to the Shieldlands after their trip to Brevoy. I have updated the XP Spreadsheet with a new sheet called "Timeline" - this should be a reasonable summary of the exploits going on that you know of. It goes from most recent events down to the oldest. The game began in late February, the Shieldlands was founded in early June, and the last session ended in mid November. Hopefully this will help everyone be on the same page for what's going on when. I have my own copy of the timeline which has many more factions to help me keep track of what they are doing and when - and how your actions are affecting them.
