So is going to the big evil tower our only option right now? I don't want this to turn into a "Wait don't go over there, there's a huge dragon" moment, where the players think the NPCs are being whiny bitches and so we go over there in defiance...and then there really is a dragon. Is this our only breadcrumb trail to follow?

The only other thing I can think of is to go to the nearby kingdoms and start trying to unite some against the Geldings - including potential goblin allies.

The breadcrumb trail is the only one that I have noticed. Or we could try as N8 has suggested. Of course he is our Bard, he could talk them into helping. Personally I am in favor of cutting the head off the snake. Then listening to the bard
