Go west! Be it the promise of a new life, a chance to find gold, escape the law, or start a new career, the west called, and you answered. You have found yourselves having spent some time traveling via stage coach, and have just arrived in The Cauldron.

Initially, player will create characters that are new to The Cauldron region. Ideally, having everyone have spent some time together works easiest, but we can discuss this further.
I do like the idea of everyone having potentially one or two characters created. Just to allow players, if they want, to have different options depending on how players want to approach the various opportunities that will be present. Again, this is still just out loud musings at this point, but if you are interested, or not, please feel free to comment.
I hope to have this more sand-box style, with the world going on around the PCs, the PCs affecting events as they choose.
There are no classes in Aces and Eights, progress is based on accomplishments based on one's occupation.
Completing milestones in one's currently chosen occupation awards character points (CPs). CPs are what are used to improve one's character. For example, an author would be awarded 2 CPs for having their first article published in a local paper. A new cowboy would be awarded CPs for fully outfitting themselves to perform their duties, and more upon completion of their first round-up.
Players can adjust their occupation at will, for example, an author who hires on to a cattle drive to gain inspiration, would effectively be a cowboy for the duration of the drive, gaining CPs for completing milestones as a cowboy.
