Hey all,
In the aftermath of session 1, there's a few things we need to prepare before session two here in the next pair of weeks.
First and foremost, to what extent should repairs be performed? I made a poll for that, but something to note is that the Diplomat will only pay for 80% of *your* battle damage, so if you salvage a 'Mech or wish to repair the Jenner you guys were bequeathed then those will be repaired out of company funds and not be covered by the Support payment. You can use your bank of cash for that however so you won't need to use your unrestricted funds, which now amount to 5,878,433 CB, plus whatever the support payment will be, which I think the estimate is 200k to repair (4 tons of armour at 50k ea). If that's the case, the support payment will be 160k CB
Beyond that, you need to choose what to salvage. You guys received the JR7-F free and clear, and so that leaves the CN9-AL (50), the LCT-1S (20), and the FS9-H (35). Those three 'Mechs weigh 105 tons so with your 70% agreement that comes out to 73.5 tons of salvage you guys can get. The gear is all stock, so you can pull equipment from the downed 'Mechs provided the specific item remained intact, and the salvageable weapons will be listed below.
CN9-AL: 1 LRM 10 2 M Laser
LCT-1S: 2 SRM2 1 M Laser
FS9-H: 1 M Laser 1 Flamer 1 Machine Gun
In terms of your next contract, I'll have a few potential contracts drawn up for you all to examine here in the next couple days.

Could go for claiming the Centurion entirely and try to restore it...

Spose if we repair them all, we can still sell them if we don't have a use for them.

Okay, got them sorted, so here are your contract possibilities:
For the Capellan Confederation they're interested in contracting you to take on a small pirate group in a Pirate Hunting contract on Ward. This will be a standard 'Mech combat (26 days away, duration of 6 months, 1.0 payment multiplier, +2 Command, +2 Salvage, -1 Support, -1 Transport. Capellan counts as a Major Power, with a 1.2 multiplier for cash, but a -1 for Salvage).
The local government in Brinton within Taurian space wishes to contract you for Riot duty; they have an electronics plant that's highly valuable, but recently there's been some unrest and they'd like you to assist with keeping the plant secure. This is likely to include more on-foot efforts rather than 'Mech combat. (33 days away, duration of 4 months, 1.0 payment multiplier, -2 Command, +1 Salvage, +2 Support, 0 Transport. The local government counts as a typical employer, so no additional modifiers).
Lastly, there is an Extraction Raid offer on the table. The Federated Suns have an official on Bromhead that has been kidnapped, apparently by pirates though they suspect Capellan or Taurian involvement due to Bromhead's location on the border between the three powers. They wish for you to extract the official safely, and ideally confirm if any other power is involved. This is likely to include a mix of 'Mech and on-foot efforts, and may take two sessions to resolve (45 days away, duration of 3 months, 1.6 multiplier, -1 Command, -1 Salvage, +2 Support, +1 Transport. The Suns count as a Super Power, with a 1.3 multiplier for cash, a +1 Support modifier and a +2 Transport modifier).
Thoughts?

Spose if we repair them all, we can still sell them if we don't have a use for them. Nah. Keep 'em and expand our numbers so we can deploy multiple lances.

Spose if we repair them all, we can still sell them if we don't have a use for them. Nah. Keep 'em and expand our numbers so we can deploy multiple lances. This is entirely viable, though do not that maintaining the number of personnel might then become something of an issue. Maybe... I don't actually know if MegaMek takes the personnel limit on DropShips into account, or if it's just a matter of having enough bays. It might just assume most personnel are "somewhere else" and thus don't need to be transported. I'll give it a test.
edit: Okay, did the test, and MegaMek does not care about raw personnel capacity. So it turns out the whole 'bay personnel' capacity issue we had is irrelevant; it wants to make sure you have the capacity to handle transporting the hardware and that you have the appropriate number of staff, but beyond that it doesn't care about if you have enough ships to transport all of your people.
