Here's a little background story for my character Soaring Eagle
He closed his eyes and waited. He began softly chanting and praying the way his father taught him so long ago. It wasn't long before the cactus began working its magic. He opened his eyes and saw the now familiar sight of The Hunting Grounds.
"Spirits! I beg word of my sister. She has been gone for too long and the tribe is worried. Tell me great spirits, what has happened to her?"
The world spun around him wildly and he had to will himself not to vomit. When he recovered he saw his sister standing in a vast desert. He could not see her face it was obscured by the mists of prophecy but he knew it was her. Her spirit, in shades of bluish-green wafted off her like the cool winds of the plains. He smiled at her but she did not smile back. She was preoccupied. As he watched her she transformed into a child and ran away towards a large tent in the middle of the desert. Soaring Eagle followed her as an insubstantial mist. She crawled under the tent and her face would have shown horror if she had had time to react. But too quickly an elephant stepped on her destroying midsection with one callous step. Soaring eagle looked on terrified. Soon after a group of devils came and killed the elephant with their unholy instruments of death. Metal fangs and firesticks meted out their malevolent vengeance.
Soaring Eagle awoke from his trance. The spirits spoke strangely as they often do but it seemed that his sister might be in trouble. After talking it over with the elders in the tribe he decided to venture southwest and the desert there and pray that he finds his sister before it is too late.
