Well, the general consensus appears to be: - Random Determination of Characters
- Pick from Archetypes & I PM you with the character
So, the following are the Archetypes in play: - Atton Rand, the "Investigator"
- Tyris Quinn, the "Pilot"
- Ulric Mordana, the "Knight"
- Warden Hsieh, the "Warrior"
- Raelin Fett, the "Spectre" (non-Force user)
How do you want to go about randomly determining this? Everyone roll a d20 and list their result in which the highest roller picks from the list? Something else?

I'm okay with posting and picking.
I'll throw another method out there which may adress some concerns that Rigil brought up earlier. Namely, someone getting a character that they don't want to play. It also keeps a measure of the random assigning that the group has decided upon.
Everybody lists their top 2 or three choices and they are entered into a random roll off by the GM.The GM rolls % (or d3 if three people for a particular archetype)assigning players interested in the archetype to the various percentages. He then rolls for the archetype and the player is removed from any subsequent lists.
For example lets say that Daniel and I are the only ones who want to play the investigator and the spectre. the GM assign high 50 me, low 50 Daniel. He selects SPectre archetype and rolls a 58. Josh Now plays Spectre and is removed from subsequent lists. In this case, just the Investigator. Since only Daniel and I were on the investigator list, Daniel is assigned the investigator. The GM selects the next archetype assigning values to the players listed for it. Etc...
Now obviously there could be snags in here. -Nobody wants to play a particular character type. -Someone gets knocked out of the 2 or three characters they picked
Anyway, thought I'd throw that out there.

I say let's see if everybody's got one they want to play, and those that don't can roll off.(?) Not feeling a particular need for randomness, myself.

First, a couple of recommendations for the initial personalities of the characters. Note: you don't have to follow these, I'm just tossing out some approaches to take with for roleplaying purposes. - Atton Rand. He’s seen & done things that he’d rather not see and, as a result, has a tendency toward mistrust. Once you've earned his respect and trust, though, he'll be there next to you when you storm Hell.
- Raelin Fett. The Jack Bauer of the Galaxy Far, Far Away, he’s a Mando turned Republican with a chip on his shoulder and a lot to prove.
- Tyris Quinn. There's nothing he can't fly ... according to him. Should be a little cocky (‘cause he’s a pilot, and all pilots are cocky.)
- Ulric Mordana. He is desperately striving to be the most perfect Jedi that he can possibly be. Out of the Jedi, he's the one trying to be a paladin.
- Warden Hsieh. Every Jedi has a gift, and his gift is that he was born to take lives. If possible, he should be played as very zen or Samurai-like, focused and calm nearly all the time (but not a stoned surfer.)
A couple of new questions for the players. - (Jedi Only). What color is your lightsaber? In this era, there are many different colors (moreso than the blue, green, purple, red of the Movies era), but some general standards have arisen amongst the Order. Jedi "Guardians" battles against the forces of evil and the dark side. They focus on combat training and masterful use of the lightsaber. Guardians generally use a blue blade. Jedi "Consulars" seek to bring balance to the universe. They focus less on physical combat and more on mental disciplines in order to augment their mastery of the Force. Consulars generally use a green blade. Jedi "Sentinels" ferret out deceit and injustice, bringing it to light. They strike a balance between the physical and mental disciplines of the Jedi Order. Sentinels generally use a yellow blade. If you wield a different color than this, what is it and why (apart from it looking cool)?
- (Jedi Only). Describe your Master. Was he a strict disciplinarian, i.e. one of those Old Masters from a Kung Fu movie? Or was she something of a renegade who rarely agreed with the Council? Or something else? Feel free to use movie Jedi Masters as a template...
- (Jedi Only). Eight years ago, the Mandalorians launched an unprecedented assault upon the Republic. Entire worlds were being burned and millions - millions - were being slaughtered. Under the leadership of a Knight named Revan, a large group of Jedi defied the Council's instructions to not get involved and went to war against the Mandalorians. Were you one of those Jedi who fought against the wishes of the Council? Why or why not?
- Do you have (and you knew this was coming) an actor in mind for the character you're playing?
- Describe your ideal "Moment of Glory." Is it a climatic lightsaber duel against a Sith Lord? A starfighter battle that changes the course of galactic events? The moment you become a Master and take your first padawan? Where does it take place? Against what kind of nifty background?

Why or why not?Yes What kind of noble Jedi could just sit around and do nothing when millions of innocents were dying Do you have an actor in mind for the character you're playing? Not yet Describe your ideal "Moment of Glory."Haven’t decided yet Thought that I would post something even incomplete as it is

It's more than any of the other slackers (though admittedly, Gigermann at least did the visual image). Your master: Vrook Lamar, currently a member of the Jedi Council who is known amongst the Order as a serious hardcase. As an instructor, he was hard and unyielding, and you were often convinced that he didn't have a gram of mercy within him. He fought in the Sith War against Exar Kun and Ulic Qel-Droma, and whatever it was that he did during that war turned him into the cold, merciless bastard that he was.

Shoots the chancellor [in the head] in front of a gasping-in-shock full senate assembly (staged or otherwise). Substitute with another similar, equally-brazen & shocking act, if necessary.

So, I guess this means I need to work in a galaxy-wide conspiracy in which the chancellor is secretly a scumbucket, huh? So noted...
What about the rest of you damned slackers? I've heard from Magman (Magman!) before the rest o' you and I'm starting to wonder if he and Gigermann are the only ones really interested in this little experiment o' mine...

What color is your lightsaber?
Silver- I stand between the shadows and the light.
Describe your Master.
Very clever and well versed in the force. He is like a zen master. Each of his words carrying multiple meanings. He speaks little prefering to train by giving course correction advice after I have already messed up. He also prefers to lead by example insead of words.
Were you one of those Jedi who fought against the wishes of the Council? Why or why not?
Did not disobey the wishes of the council in this respect. Though I have'nt been a model Jedi. I felt no particular urge to fight in a war that had nothing to do with me.
Do you have (and you knew this was coming) an actor in mind for the character you're playing?
No
Describe your ideal "Moment of Glory."
Uncovering a sinister plot and then using my wit and guile to foil it.

Keen ... how's this for your master? Vandar Tokare. Vandar was a male Whill Jedi Master and member of both the Dantooine Enclave Council and Jedi High Council during the Mandalorian Wars and Jedi Civil War. Master Vandar was of the same species as Yoda (a Whill), but possessed a different skin tone and spoke in a dialect of Basic with only minimal similarities to that spoken by Yoda and Yaddle.

What is it and why (apart from it looking cool)? Blue. Because it reminds me of a peaceful sky. It centers me against the warrior within. Describe your Master Contemplative. Deep. Hard to read. Repetitive training. Were you one of those Jedi who fought against the wishes of the Council? Why or why not? Yeah. He who wherever he goes is attached to no person and to no place by ties of flesh; who accepts good and evil alike, neither welcoming the one nor shrinking from the other — take it that such a one has attained Perfection. I have not yet attained perfection... Do you have an actor in mind for the character you're playing? Not yet Describe your ideal "Moment of Glory." Honorable fight with an equal, or one I consider equal

Very nice. I'm quite impressed with everyone's reasoning behind the selection of their blade color ... now it's all up to Aaron to see if he can meet the high bar you guy's have set... How's this for your master, Mike? Zez-Kai Ell. Ell was one of the Masters on the Council during the Mandalorian Wars. His own Padawan disobeyed the will of the Council during the Mandalorian Wars, but Master Ell did not blame his apprentice for choosing to go to war because he understood why his apprentice followed the Jedi that went to fight.

My lightsaber will be green. No particular reason i just like green.
My master Was an extremely confident man. He is a great pilot and doesn't hide the fact that he is. He is guided more by his conscience. He is known as very rarely making mistakes in dog fights. That is why he is still alive after many engagements. He believes in constantly training to achieve perfection at all times. He ruthlessly grills his padawans for hours everyday.
I joined my master and fought the madalorians. I like my master are men of action and couldnt stand by while many innocents sufered.
Still thinking of actor
I like the starfighter battle that changes the course of galactic events.

All right, I'm going to try once again to get this game moving. As it stands, the following were the options everyone picked in regards to characters and I PMed everyone the characters as previously picked. Atton Rand - zenwolf Raelin Fett - Gigermann Tyris Quinn - malevoiy Ulric Mordana - Magman59 Warden Hsieh - Mike E. With Mike taking a hiatus, that means Hsieh is no longer in play unless Chris is interested in taking him over (which works for me.) Please glance over your character PMs or let me know if you need me to resend it. For Chris, I recommend reading this thread from the beginning and then letting me know if you want to do someone other than Hseih (the "Warrior").
