Similar to gigermann's Idea Bin, I'm creating this thread to get feedback from the players regarding what you want in the game. Predicated on the conversation from Friday, I'm concerned that the group as it is currently construed (more casual gamers than anything else; not saying this as a bad thing, merely stating a simple fact) might not work for the KOTOR storyline I have in mind because it does require a bit more offline player participation than I think most of you are interested in doing. With that in mind, I have a couple of questions that do need answers and can't just be ignored or put off. - What sort of game do YOU want to play in? More of a fringe type of thing and less of a Jedi thing?
- What kind of character(s) do YOU want to play?
Re-purposing the game wouldn't be that difficult, I think, but I really do need some feedback from you guys.

I've been feeling the need, lately, for something a bit "lighter"—guess that would be "fringe." I suppose you could also determine from my S³M campaign that I like the idea of "more-average" PCs, not looking to save the universe (understanding that we GM the games we want to play). I would also say that some of the personalities at the game, currently, don't lend themselves well to the "stoic, Jedi-centric" characterizations—no offense intended. I hate to shoe-horn people into roles that don't fit well. Then there's the overall need to do something different—we've been doing the same sort of thing for a while now, and I think it's time for a change-up.
That being said, if we wanted to really switch things up, we'd have lower-level characters who don't have a ship, and the story tied to a single planet (or cluster; or station)—which would ultimately end up similar to where we started with SW D6. I see GTA with Rodians ;D
Note to anyone else who contributes: Don't just sign on to this idea—really think about what you want, and lets come to a consensus of some kind.

Note to anyone else who contributes: Don't just sign on to this idea—really think about what you want, and lets come to a consensus of some kind. Yes, please. I would hate to spend a lot of time working out the specifics of a Jedi-centric game only to have none of the players participate beyond actual game night. If the party as a whole wants to do something else entirely (a Firefly-esq crew, for example, or a bunch of fringers stuck on a crappy planet/system until they hit that one big find, or something else entirely) please let me know. So I guess to actual questions boil down to: - What kind of game do you want to play? Be as generic or as specific as possible.
- What era (KOTOR era, Prequel (especially Clone Wars), or Classic) do you want to play during? I'm not bothering with anything post RotJ since I think me & thedefiantbudah are the only ones really familiar with that junk.
- What kind of theme? If the group as a whole wants a much lighter style of game (sort of like Firefly), then I really need to revise my original plan.
- What kind of character do you really want to play?

I like the idea of playing a little lighter game. maybe not a save the universe type. I think it would be fun to have a firefly style game but with out the constant shortage of material. I have played too many of the barely scraping by games. I actually want to be able to get ahead.
I still like the Jedi but I have a hard time seeing a jedi doing what I am talking about.

I'm voting Ep4/5 era.
Maybe some aftermath run-ins with the old bunch, mixed in with movie background stuff?

i'm not too picky of "era" although i like idea of playing a force-adept smuggler ... i can't really see that fitting in with the older timeframes due to the way the jedi were ... as opposed to the newer jedi with the new order coming together with the help of smugglers .... maybe even the possibility of something in the outer rim or uncharted territories ... although i'm a fan of the "wraith squad" too
maybe a jedi version/variation of wraith squad .... we already have a motley crew ... would't be too much of a stretch

Allrighty...
First and foremost, as long as we don't end up in a "Screw your buddy" situation as a design, im just about cool with anything. However, not struggling in a game where the PCs are trying to get ahead financially or otherwise is boring. Wheres the drive to get stuff done unless you're starving or something...
Unless the GM has a idea or format already set for character backgrounds, I believe we should let the character histories speak for themselves. IF we are role players, the history of the character should cement what our motivations, aspirations, and personalities are like. I submit we put ourselves (for those that are unable or unwilling to do so) to a life path generation to give the players their (for lack of a better phrase) sealed character backgrounds. After all, this is a game. Not a second life. Why not let fate guide our hand a bit and play off that?
Yes, I know i mention that life path stuff a lot. But a lot of what it generates gives just an initial direction, feel free to fill in or elaborate on what comes up to flesh out the history.
Setting doesn't matter, jedis don't matter, era doesn't matter. Regardless of setting, plot, or game resources used. Role play ends up as role play, were still fetching stuff, dealing, hunting for certain items, and running for our lives. As long as that happens, i'm kewl.

Hmm. Well I was looking forward to the game as originally envisioned. Of course if everybody else, GM included, wants to change things up then who am I to sand in the way of progress.
I am interested in playing a jedi. Preferably one that is struggling with dark side demons.
