Not all lies/truths call for a check to detect. If I tell you I had a chili-cheeseburger today, you have no idea if I'm lying or not unless you are privy to information—such as my dietary situation—that gives you a "reason" to suspect me. If a player is asking for a roll, it's because he's suspicious, or thinks there's a chance of the information being false. NPCs should likely work the same way.
Also, what Rigil said

Correct me if I am wrong, but don't lies call for a bluff roll? So if you said 'I ate a chili-cheeseburger today' you'd have to roll bluff to see if you actually said that or said 'I ate a.. uh... erhmm.. uuuuuhhh a... chili... uh... cheeseburger today?'

That's probably how most people run it. That may even be in the manual. But it really isn't the right way, IMO. I shouldn't need to roll to tell you I had a cheeseburger, unless there's some chance I might screw it up.

Something I worked up recently is a sort of generic event generator, in the form of a spreadsheet. Super simple. I basically intended that I'd use a copy of it for each campaign, modified & tailored to the specific campaign; you can just add/remove items from the lists, and it dynamically picks from what's there. You might find it useful.

Funny observation: Friday, we begin Kingmaker, which in addition to being an adventure path is essentially a 'realm management' game. Then on Saturday, I start running my GURPS: Casus Belli game which is ... essentially a 'realm management' game...

If you don't want to have two realm management games, feel free to run Red Sky on Friday ;-)
Also, at least the first of six 'parts' of the module are much more traditional D&D than realm management, albeit more sandbox-y than a traditional module

Fricking Giger. He mentioned a really awesome campaign idea that neither of us are going to run but is one I would love to play in: "Person of Interest meets Mass Effect." So it would be akin to the PoI show (which is great, BTW) but set on the Citadel. Man, that could be a lot of fun...

How do you know? Dude in the middle might be in a wheelchair... He stands up in the 8th-ish frame. So yeah, total fail in representation. Plus there is not a flamboyantly gay dude or a militant vegan

Something I've been using more and more is OneNote, which is free to download an use. To me it is better for campaign usage than Evernote (which I use for daily planning and checklists) You can add a ton of things on each of the "pages", such as I have every hexes entire encounter: stat blocks, descriptions, pictures, maps, etc and I have the map link each corresponding hex so I can just click the hex and boom, I go right to where everything is. Everything is saved in the cloud, so I can access my notes anywhere I have internet access, and if I am concerned about connectivity, I can save the notebook as a file on my hard drive to access when I don't have the internet available. I have each skill/feat/whatever linked to the right pathfinder wiki entry, or, if I want I can just copy/paste the relevant passage onto the character's page. (I do this if there is just one or two odd feat/ability/whatever so I can quickly look at it instead of clicking a link to open the pathfinder wiki.) Anyway, I have attacked an image to mine below to see about how it works for me - definitely a great little way to organize all of your notes, npcs, locations, etc

Really wish I hadn't started fraking around with Mass Effect again. Now my brain started messing with "how would I actually run this in GURPS". Because I need that like I need a hole in the head. Argh.

This is only in the preliminary planning stages, but I found an awesome homebrew Mass Effect PDF using the Fate system. and am contemplating doing a one-shot with it (perhaps in the "in-between times" between games at some point) because I've wanted to actually experiment and try Fate for some time. Just looking at it, the system is quite a bit different from GURPS - a whole lot looser and more cooperative play - but wanted to find out if there was enough interest in this to move forward. If someone (or a lot of someones) isn't interested in this, that's cool. I just wanted to gauge interest with the group. If I do this, it'll be a learning experience all around since I don't think any of us is all that familiar with the system.

Sounds like worth a shot... A one shot is probably a good idea for a system as new and different as this to give us a feel for it without requiring the GM to do too much prep if it doesn't work

Speaking of Cyberpunk 2020, made a nested tree to do the lifepath stuff related to Mekton. Will work on one for Cyberpunk if there is interest. here is the MOD file for Fantasy Grounds CoreRPG Lifepath Tables for Mekton.mod (9.17 KB)
