Sir Kenrick and "Sir" Magnus
Character Sheet (Level 1)
Sir Kenrick Shosmyth (Kenrick) is a Neutral Good, young male, motivated by a desire for a life of ease. He has a cynical and honest personality. The item he values most is the letter his mother wrote on her death-bed, to be read when he came of age. The individual whom he values most is his master.
He had a simple childhood in a small town, apprenticed to a lower-class smith, who loved him dearly. His father was an outlaw and went into hiding/on the run long ago. His mother was incapacitated by a long-term illness when Kenrick was a child. He had a younger brother, a much younger brother, and a younger adopted-sister [his master's daughter].
His family is on bad terms [Define? Argument before leaving to war?], though he visits often.

Simplified Proto-Backstory:
- Born to a local peasant
- Apprenticed to local horse-shoer; learned about horses, animal handling, etc.
- Called up to join "the war," as a shoer/smith; named Shosmyth per his trade
- While practicing the time-honored post-battle tradition of looting, finding little (late to the scene), encountered a magnificent horse; rode it back, intending to sell/trade the horse, probably for some ale & whores. Horse refused to leave him, & got him in trouble with whomever he tried to pawn him off to.
- Gave up trying to get rid of the horse
- Noticed while riding Magnus, got recruited into a light-horse unit as a runner
- During [the Battle], while attempting to do his job, Magnus decided to lead a reckless charge against Kenrick's express orders to the contrary; charge turned the tide of battle
- Kenrick awarded with knighthood, all the while insisting that he had nothing to do with it, and the horse should be the one knighted; still refers to him as "Sir" Magnus (or more often, "His Majesty," when he insists on having things his way)
- Magnus still gets him into trouble
- Returned home, hoping to get back to normal; not really interested in playing the nobleman (Magnus, inevitably, has other plans)
