I was needing Knowledge(Life Sciences) for the Medic Prestige class... when it comes time at Level 7 or so...
Maybe I should switch Survival with Use Computer since we have a slicer robot to do that for me?

While we are at it, switched up being trained in Mechanics for Knowledge (Tactics) as Shelley (rightfully) pointed out a Battle Medic clone would likely be programmed for tactics and less mechanics/use computer

Whoops. That should have been 3d10 and 1d8. I'll be nice and ignore the crappy 3.
You have 3500 credits to spend. The armor comes free with the backstory.
For the languages, I went ahead and picked Mando'a and High Galactic because those are the ones most likely imprinted in his brain.

Nope. The tech level from the prequels to the original trilogy really doesn't change much. Just bounce any questions you may have off me.

Just checking something... Brody Bric has a Heavy Blaster Pistol. Its damage is listed at 3d8+6 on his sheet. From what I read it should be 3d8+Dex Bonus, which would make it 3d8+4... What am I missing?

Missing a couple of things actually. - PCs add half of their heroic levels (rounded down) to all damage, so in that case, it's +2 right off the top.
- You do not add your Dex bonus to damage to ranged weapons.
- Brody has Weapon Spec, so that's another +2 damage.
- Brody's pistol has been upgraded by Jor, using Jor's Tech Specialist talent, which increases the damage by another +2.
- That's where the +6 comes from.

Alright... How is this for equipment:
Rifle, Commando (KOTOR 180)... 1500 CR Medical Kit... 600 CR Surgical Kit... 1000 CR 4x Medpacs... 400 CR
I couldn't find any prices for ammo, so is it assumed you have infinite ammo and just need to reload?
Problems? Good?

- Ammo is an energy cell (usually about 10 credits a pop.) The weapons will state how many shots you have until you must reload.
- Blaster rifles are Restricted to the military (I don't have access to the KOTOR pdf right now so I'm not sure if this weapon is considered Restricted or Military.) While I don't disagree that it makes perfect sense for the character to have one, you'll have to have acquired a license for it in the interim (core rulebook, p118.) Plus, toting around a blaster rifle everywhere is going to cause you some serious problems down the road. Just FYI.
- Otherwise, it looks fine. I'm just a little hesitant about the "commando rifle" at the moment. Will let you know more when I get home this PM.

Yes, the Commando Rifle is Military availability... so do I need to avoid military availability? What troubles does it cause? What availability (Illegal, Military, Restricted, Licensed, etc etc) should I stick with and not get in too much trouble?

Well anyone can have any of the available weapons provided they have the licenses. I'd read up on that in the core rulebook and use your own judgment. Most of the characters currently have restricted weapons (heavy blaster pistols), but have obtained licenses for them, so you could conceivably possess a military weapon - just expect to pay out of the nose for the license as well as be hassled everywhere you go over the weapon.

No, I just mistyped. They're still military - the PCs just did a favor for a Hutt and obtained licenses for them.
I'm not trying to say "don't get that rifle" because, as long as the characters are operating on the Fringe, there won't be much hassle. But sometimes, you'll be going into civilization, and that's where the trouble will begin. So don't expect to be able to always have it with you.

Well, so long as I have the license for it (20% cost of weapon) there is no issues, especially since all the other characters are using military weps?
I'm trying to be fair in that since my character is military he would likely have access to the stuff... maybe? even though I'm not sure he has/knows his ID? Thoughts?

Well, so long as I have the license for it (20% cost of weapon) there is no issues, It's a bit more detailed than that. There are also the appropriate Knowledge checks required, which means one could ultimately pay even more than the weapon itself is worth to get said license. The PCs got away with it because a Hutt squared them away (no, that won't come back and bite in the ass at all.) The difference is in the type of weapon. Look at this way: Brody and No-Bark walk into a bar, each carrying a military weapon. Brody is carrying a Colt 1911 .45 ACP, No-Bark is carrying a M4 carbine with full optical scope and laser site. Which one is going to draw more notice? So yeah, there are still going to be situations where you carrying around a rifle is going to draw more notice than someone carrying a pistol. Even if it wasn't a military-restricted weapon, I'd still have it work like that. It draws as much notice as characters with visible combat armor. And that's why I didn't reject it out of hand. I agree that its entirely conceivable that he'll have such a weapon. He has no ID. Which, now that I think about it, is going to make getting a license that much harder. He'll need to go to the black market to get one...

Well, that solves all our issues, as there is no way I could afford the commando rifle with black market prices... to further complicate issues, I am essentially the worst Gather Info (my check is +1) dude ever, so unless you are feeling particularly generous I will need to stick with 'Licensed' level... if you are feeling generous I could step up to 'Restricted'... up to you

Well, technically, he needs a license for the armor as well, so I guess we can explain that one away by having him saved some bureaucrat's life (with his mad medicking skillz) who then pulled some strings and hooked him up with a license. Beyond that, I could maybe go up to Restricted in terms of weapons, but you'd still have to do the black market for that. But what does he need a gun for anyway? He's a medic!

I could see him having the commando rifle, having no real clue where it came from, and having no license for it—which means he couldn't go openly walking around with it, and would mostly leave it on the ship.

Alright, I want to make sure I understand the whole ID/licensing situation so we have him an origin story which makes sense (even if it will make things a little harder for me at the beginning)
Going with the agreed upon clone story.... No-Bark and crew were 'defective' droids sent on a suicide mission... he somehow survived and was able to escape the planet... No problems so far
He was picked up, wearing his armor, but had no ID or licensing.. does this make sense? what would the 'rescuing' crew do?
He is then dropped off on a planet and somehow meets the crew, whom need a medic take him on...
So how will not having an ID affect him? Will he need to get a 'fake' ID and take on an assumed identity, then he can purchase things like normal?
Also, on a side note, can other people buy stuff for the crew... ie Shelley (Tesla) has the 'Connections' trait, which allows her to get goodies at a discount... will she be buying everything for us essentially from now on in order to get things cheaper? (Not asking so I can get a discount now - since No-Bark hasn't officially met Tesla)

Sorry. Missed this somehow.
Honestly? Don't worry about it. If the origin story doesn't actually make sense, that's fine because not only will it fit with his character not always making sense ('cause he's crazy!), but there's also a lot of precedent in SW for origin stories not making sense. Take a look at Luke himself: how insane was Kenobi to let the Lars raise the son of Darth Vader on Vader's homeworld while bearing Vader's birthname? How was this not noticed? For that matter, how come Vader didn't realize through the Force that Leia was both sensitive and related to him? So making sense isn't always on the top of the list.
One, we have no idea exactly how No-Bark got off that planet. Perhaps he escaped himself, using a functional starship or something? In fact, having No-Bark give conflicting explanations for how he got where he was totally fits. "Wanna know how I got these scars?"
How would having no ID affect you here in the States? I'm leaning toward him having a sort of replacement ID that was obtained at some location for this sort of thing, but this ID isn't enough to let him get Restricted or greater stuff legally cause he has no history to investigate.
Yes. Just like here in the States.
Well, that depends on her. So be nice to her or she'll make you buy it yourself.
