Okay I was going to wait until I had my character sheet ready before I posted her but I figured if I was on the wrong track it would be better to fix her now than later. Just keep in mind that I know nothing of Star Wars other then the general story line of the 6 movies (of which I thought only 4 and 5 were worth my time), so ideas, characters, and jargon will probably be a bit off (the story line is woefully cliche). Anyway, here she is... Tesla de Lupo was the daughter of the notorious crime lord, Dante de Lupo, in the (insert preferred space area district here) area. They were notorious for the smuggling and distribution of weapons and ship parts - usually illegally salvaged or seized by their own fleet called the Shadow Wolves. Dante de Lupo has been dead for around five years but the Ombre Lupi mafia has been going strong due to Tesla’s brother, Giovanni. Recently Giovanni was killed in a botched raid that resulted in a power struggle over who would be next in line. The struggle was between the young Tesla and Giovanni’s right hand man, Maison Ruellis. Tesla fought for the position backed by members who thought that a de Lupo should always act as the head. Maison Ruellis conceded the position however he never forgot the people who were ultimately loyal to him. Tesla led the Shadow Wolves for some months learning how to be the head of the mafia. Maison on the other hand spent his time plotting for an ‘accident’ to be arranged that would put him in control. He frequently had meetings in his home with his co-conspirators. Maison’s wife overhead them talking one night and decided to warm Tesla, who crept away at night before any harm could befall her. Now she is a drifter, posing as an engineer looking for work. Ultimately she is looking for a crew in which she could persuade to go after Maison Ruellis of the Ombre Lupi so that she can take back her rightful place. p.s. if you would like a "live person" for an avatar let me know, I think I have one in mind

of which I thought only 4 and 5 were worth my time ANH & ESB are the only ones really worth your time. Use "syndicate." Its more Star Warsy. Plus? We probably need to tweak Giovanni's name to something more Star Warsy. Good name. Hmm. One thing immediately springs to mind - this crew is probably going to be way too small fries for Tesla, so we might want to dial back just how powerful the Shadow Wolves are/were, like make them limited only to a single city or something, and be little more that jumped up speeder (car) thieves/bikers (or, in Star Wars parlance, a swoop gang. Sure, Tesla may talk them up so they sound much bigger than they actually are, but ultimately, they're a pretty small organization. Another thing to consider is that, in the Star Wars universe, Hutts are generally considered to be The Mafia, so the Wolves would definitely need to be isolated in terms of galactic importance (which is why I suggested they be much smaller in scope than originally envisioned.) It also occurs to me that Tesla will need a legitimate reason to get off-world (from her home planet) and stay off-world, rather than disappear there, so we might want to add something in there like Ruellis murdered a high government official and managed to pin the blame on her. Now, she's on the run and trying to keep her head down. What is the character's "strong suit"? Is she a talker, able to charm the pants off anyone? Or does she let her blaster do her talking (which might explain why she was outmaneuvered by Ruellis.) You mentioned her posing as an engineer, which implies (to me) strong mechanical skills, but what other talents does she possess? Based on the initial outline, I'd probably recommend Scout or Scoundrel and Noble, in terms of class. Also, just based on the character description, she's definitely an unsavory type (which is fine by me!), but how ... slimy or scummy is she really? Does she have that cliched heart of gold in there? Who are you thinking?

I thought that name would stick out like a sore thumb but I was tired of thinking of starwarsy names. But since its a new day his name shall be Jhoren de Lupo.
That was probably the biggest problem for me was to figure out how powerful these guys were. I figured they wouldn't be at "Hutt" level but I didn't know what that would make them in the pecking order. Its a lack of starwars socio-economic knowledge on my part. Wherever you think they need to be on the power scale is fine by me.
Again fine by me. My only concern is that if these guys are small on the power scale would they really have an opportunity to take out a high government official. I guess even if they aren't very powerful they could still be notorious in their area, or be a small organization but have skilled people. And ultimately (especially if we look at our recent events) it doesn't take much except a nut with a gun.
I guess I forgot to tell you this but my plan is to have her be 2 noble/3 scoundrel. To me it would make sense as she progresses into the "family" business, she would start off as a noble but then gain scoundrel characteristics as she gets her hands dirty. I planned to have her as a tech specialist so mechanical skills are a must. She knows the ins and out of the stuff her family smuggles or "liberates" off the hands of others so she can put her knowledge and skills about those things to good use as she's on the run. Even though she has a noble background she certainly isn't a silver tongued devil and would much rather use intimidation and a blaster than a wink and a smile. She didn't really have time to learn tact when she was leading the Wolves and you're right, that's one of reasons Maison was able to lead a mutiny of sorts against her. As far as her character goes I didn't envision her with a fabled heart of gold. She is scummy but she's not evil if that makes sense. She understands the importance of teamwork and she would be loyal to the crew she's apart of but only because of her personal experiences. She grew up in a "pack" mentality where everyone contributed their part to the final goal (sorry for the wolf puns but its the best way I know how to describe it). To her everything is a calculated move so that she can get what she wants. She's intelligent, she's skilled and she's capable. I guess her mantra would be "Its not personal, its just business." But she does have a strict sense of how far would she go. Like if you got in her way as she was trying to gain access to something she would gun you down without hesitation. But would she kidnap a wife or child of and torture them in from of someone she was trying to intimidate? No, its not in her character. She doesn't usually like to draw things out and she likes to keep it clean. She's more of a "double tap in the back of the head" type of girl. She gets in, gets out, and gets going. She doesn't get a sick thrill when she kills people, to her its just collateral damage. Though she doesn't really have much combat honor either, she can stab people in the back and she has no problem with shooting first. Now is she able to build relationships with people? I think so. She's one with two "modes"; business mode and normal mode. She doesn't have horrible charisma but I wouldn't put her as a face that's for sure. So she can foster good working relationships with others, though she might look slightly uncomfortable at first and it might take her a while to come out of her shell.
I haven't searched for the pic yet but for some reason this popped into my mind. About 10 years ago I was flipping through channels and I caught a glimpse of the jury rigged off-road '60s mustang in this post apocalyptic world. It looked really interesting until I learned through context that the plot of the story was this guy had hired a bounty hunter to go out to the badlands to help him find a replacement sex robot because he got his wet and was fried...I'm not joking. Needless to say, I stopped watching it. Anyway, I remember me thinking that the bounty hunter looked like she should belonged in a start wars flick. So if I could figure out the movie I could see if my memories are correct.

Cherry 2000, Melanie Griffith. What's wrong with replacing your sex-robot if it gets fried? Could actually be a bounty-hunter. Common enough profession.

I thought that name would stick out like a sore thumb but I was tired of thinking of starwarsy names. But since its a new day his name shall be Jhoren de Lupo. That works for me! Ultimately, it boils down to how you want to approach the character. If you want it to be a fairly significantly-sized organization, that's fine, but we need to take into account the fact that the PC crew is likely never going to be the movers and shakers she would want them to be in order to take down the schutta who is now in charge of her ... group. Again, think Firefly and that crew. So what I'm thinking - and let me know if this doesn't work for you - is that the Wolves are limited to a single planet and, while they're not solely limited to just one spot there, they generally headquarter in a single city. With this in mind, that planet would need to be - Very heavily industrialized
- Filled with corruption.
So what I'm thinking is Fondor, which is one of the larger ship building planets in the galaxy. It is located in the Tapani Sector, but is generally considered a "Core World." And normally, Fondorians are baseline Human with no hair, but we'll ignore that nonsense. Now the Wolves would mostly operate in Fondor City, and their principal activities will be shipjacking. Think of them as a pretty large gang - on Earth, they'd be considered a syndicate, whereas in SW, they're just a "gang" - who mostly steal ships & speeders, strip them of identification, and then sell them off to other ... interests, especially off-world interests. On a planet this size, where the entire economy is geared around vehicle & starship construction, its pretty easy to make a living there doing this. Well, it doesn't necessarily have to be a high govt official - it could be the son or daughter of such an official, and the evidence linking Tes is circumstantial at best. That works. Right. She's gonna fit right in with the current crew. I think magman's character is going to fall in love with your character. LOL

Nuthin' if you can go to Home Depot and replace it with relative ease. But to risk life and limb? I don't think so. You're better off just dealing with what you already have. Sure it might not wiggle like it use to but at least now there's no back talk ;D

Sir, you're brilliant! I'll re-write her back story to make up for all of these changes later tonight. I'm working on her character sheet right now so I should have something to post sooner than later...stay tuned...

Looks pretty good to me. I see you included the bonus feat already, which works. The Connections talent can come in very handy!
Thumbs up!

Here ya go. Obviously, this image is wearing some nifty armor & you currently don't have the armor proficiency feats for it, but still, its an awesome pic that I figured you might like. OR

OR I do like the first pic quite a bit. Too bad she isn't sans armor and then she would be perfect. But it is a good look for her. This would probably be a lot easier if she didn't have red hair but that's the image that popped into my mind and I just have to go with it.

So we crop and voila! Plus? For all we know, you might take a level of Soldier down the road and pick up Armor Proficiency (light) and it's perfect, eh?

Addendum: Have you had the chance to look at the Background Mechanic PDF I sent WxMAN? I think "Disgraced" fits Tesla perfectly, even though she is ostensibly from a criminal background. The reason I thought that is the bonus regarding when she's creating deceptive appearances for herself. That said, if another one fits your fancy, let me know.

No he has not shared the pdf with me. I'll have him give it to me tonight when he gets home...which should be in about 45 minutes. Apparently we also have a bit more research to do on the talents/feats because we have three more books we didn't have previously at our disposal so we have some work to do. From what it sounds like picking the mechanic background is going to be the easy part of the evening.

Okie dokie, I'm taking the "disgraced" background. And I've decided after reading the additional feats/talents that I'm going to keep my character as is. Unless you have any suggestions/issues of course.

Nope. It all looks good to me.
What we need now is 4d6 for hit points (reroll ones as norm), and 3d4 x 500 for starting wealth. You also have seven languages to stock - if you'd like, I can pick the ones that would be most appropriate for the character.

Will do.
And since I gave No-Bark some nifty armor to begin with, we need to figure out what awesome grooviness Tesla has in her possession. A racing speeder bike perhaps? A weapon of some sort? What kind of really good toy would really fit the character as you envision her?

What kind of really good toy would really fit the character as you envision her? ooo, I'm sorely tempted to go with a speeder bike but I think I need to take some time and go though the manuals to see my options. I mean would it make more sense if she has more of a specialized tool to aid her in her dastardly deeds? I really liked the lock breaking kit...till I saw its price and figured it wouldn't make sense for me to have something that expensive. Or I could do a weapons modification/upgrade. Of I could just request for a pet Bantha and name him Bubbles just to keep people guessing. I need to spend the rest of the morning filling out more job applications, brush up on Jocelyn, then I"ll look at my options in more in detail. We have a bit of time so I'll need to think about this.

Sorry Rigil but I just saw your post regarding my equipment. Here it is:
Pistol- Merr-Sonn model 434 -650 credits Long Range comlink- 250 credits Breath Mask- 200 credits Atmosphere canister- 25 credits All temperature Cloak- 100 credits Utility Belt- 500 credits Hip Holster- 25 credits
Brings that up to 1750 credits
Also you mentioned in the past that I could get a new shiny since No-Bark got some nice armor. May I still have a speedbike? And finally can you address the situation with my hit points...if I remember correctly I should be around 8 short. Thank you!
