This Week:I'm planning for this week to backtrack a little, and do some one-on-one cage-fighting, to get the noob(s) a chance to acclimate to GURPS before throwing them into the meat-grinder. It'll also give us a chance to square away last-minute character stuff, discuss the merits of Tactical Shooting, and if SQ is still planning to re-enlist, some time to get a proper character going. I'd also like to work in some Martial Arts stuff, since it hasn't really come up much in the course of the regular mission. Character Stuff:There may have been some initial confusion regarding the "Baggage" adjustment. Let me re-state: Any Disadvantage that does not directly affect tactical combat is considered part of the -75pt "Baggage" Disad.- Disads tagged as "Physical" will often (but not always) apply
- Disads tagged as Mental will sometimes apply
- Disads tagged as "Social" will never apply
- Disads tagged as "Exotic" or "Supernatural" are obviously out, already
- Quirks are "Baggage"
- You may attempt to persuade me of the combat-pertinence of a particular Trait, if you really think it should apply

- First rule of GURPS Fight Club=Nobody talks about GURPS Fight Club
- Second rule of GURPS Fight club=Everybody fights
- Third rule of…
As soon as we have more than one Player present on Friday, they're going into the ring Some miscellany, mostly arising from the arrival of Tactical Shooting: - According to TacS19, it takes about 10-20min for eyes to fully adjust from night-vision to unaided vision, so flipping up one's NVDs will result in -2 Vision for a while
- The Green Eyes Perk helps with NVD disadvantages (TacS38)
- Night vision Devices also commonly come in "monocles" these days, which can negate some of the disadvantages of NVD-use, but the "rules" regarding them are rather sparse. Since they aren't listed in equipment, if you want to use one, you'll have to shop for it online to get the relevant stats (which, incidentally, you could do with pretty much any piece of equipment in the game)
- I have become aware of a limit on how many Perks a character can have. There are a couple of standards: 1 per 25 CP overall; 1 "combat" Perk per 20 pts in combat/military/or police Skills, and 1 extra Perk per 10 CP spent on Skills & Techniques of a combative character template, style, etc. There is also an exception, though, that if you have the Style Familiarity Perk, then that Style's Perks and Techniques are all available for purchase.
- Re: previous point, there are a number of "shooting" Styles in Gun Fu and Tactical Shooting, which your character may already "qualify" for, except the Style Familiarity Perk—I'm going to be updating the Dispensables.GDF file to include some "dummy" Templates for those Styles, for those that want to use them, since it's a little tricky to make your own manually in GCA
- There are quite a few new gun accessories in TacS, and a number of those already present have been better explained/detailed. In specific, I thought it might be good for Josh's #1 to add a foregrip to his PK
- A number of you less-savvy types just grabbed a weapon from the list; it might be a good idea to check the relevant text on other variants for the chosen weapon, different magazine/belt capacities, etc. Specifically, I know N8's #2 might benefit from later versions of the M249 that are lighter. Also, there is a section in TacS, regarding customization—this is legal, as well.
- An "Expensive" modifier to the backpack reduces the Encumbrance penalty to Stealth by one—could be useful
- Some of you with grenade launchers never got around to dealing with the various types of ammunition available. Ditto, shotguns

This week, we're back to the regular mission, fighting the Barbary pirates Another character consideration, from Tactical Shooting, (p37) re: "Shooting Styles"If everyone gets the same shooting style (Assaulter might be appropriate), that's a free (situational) +3 to Tactics. Also, @mcn: Need to read the fine print, folks. Most of the physical attributes only allow a limited adjustment:You're over-limit by a couple (30% of 13=3.9)

Per OPORD, we are en route to the stronghold ... did we already get the info about its location from the informant? Its been so long since we did this that I can't recall.
Also, do we have any information about said stronghold? Size, floorplans, anything?

AAR, 26 Mar 11:New Rule, Effective Immediately: No character editing on Friday after game-time (19:00)…period. Once the clock turns "7," you're stuck with what you have. If you need help during the week, I'm always available. If you need me (or someone else, for that matter) to do something for you, I probably will. If you don't have the social/mental bandwidth to handle character creation/improvement before Friday, or even if you just can't be bothered (no judging, here), then don't accept that task—I'd rather you shuffle off the responsibility on someone who will do it than effectively "promise" to do it yourself and not deliver. If your stuff is not completed on Friday, and you have not asked for help, I will have no sympathy for you. Related issue: I have put together a spreadsheet to record skill usage for character improvement and whatnot. It would make the most sense to fill that out before you leave on Friday. That said, if it isn't filled out by the following Friday at 19:00, then the last week will not count toward advancement. As above, if you need help figuring out what to do with it, ask for it—otherwise, no sympathy. If you don't care enough to keep it updated, then I won't bother about advancement. (You've all had plenty of opportunity to contest the rules-in-use, and I have heard nothing.) I hate to be a pain about all this, but shit's just not getting done otherwise. If you need help, ask for it.Reminders:SQ used PPs to get temporary use of a laser sight, and to temporarily swap CS grenades for frags—don't forget to make that permanent.

That's 1d-1 x20—potentially 20d6-20—and the armor divisor of .5 doesn't have any effect against unarmored opponents (though it would be pretty useless against armor, except to hit unarmored locations). This is not to say you need to use them (honestly, you probably don't), just to get the facts straight.

Shot (p. 173). A TL7 birdshot round has Dmg 1d-1(0.5) pi-, Acc 2, Range 30/600, RoF nx20, Rcl 1. An improved TL8 version has Dmg 1d-1(0.5) pi-, Acc 2, Range 30/600, RoF n¥50, Rcl 1. $5. LC3.
ok...so i'm guessing i misread this just a lil...so the dmg is per shot with there being 20 shots per round fired?

LC3. ok...so i'm guessing i misread this just a lil...so the dmg is per shot with there being 20 shots per round fired? That's how a shotgun works. RoF is nx20—in this case, 1x20, since the regular RoF for a M203 is 1; 1x50, in the case of the "current" version.
