The Characters:The PCs will be modern spec-ops types, though not necessarily "military"—the organization for which the PCs will be operating is a private paramilitary outfit (think Blackwater, etc., only "good guys" ). Backup characters will still be a good idea, but not required. Starter Character GCA file is available here, and in the Resources thread. Modify this character to suit your concept, bearing in mind the following guidelines. If you're carrying over an older character, you will still need to use the Starter, and modify it to suit (there have been some tweaks). Character Creation Basics- 250 points; +5 for backstory
- Check "realistic limits" for improved Derived Stats (usually limited to ±2, w/ex)
- 125 pts of "actual" Disads
- Taboo Traits: Addiction (Illegal), Alcoholism, Berserk, Combat Paralysis, Cowardice, Dependents, Enemy (unless you have a really cool story to work him in), Glory Hound, Incompetence (at least in obvious skills such as Guns or Swimming), Indecisive, Loner, Low Empathy, Low Self-Image, Motion Sickness, Neurological Disorder, On The Edge, Personality Change, Secret (unless it directly affects the team), Most (Serious) "Mental Disorders," Most Physical "Disabilities"—the company has fairly high mental and physical standards.
- Taboo Traits may be taken as a Quirk instead; if approved by the GM, this may exceed the normal -5 limit on Quirks
- See Action 1, pp. 17-18 for "Suitable Traits"
- Required Traits: Extremely Hazardous Duty (the -20pt version)
- All Characters will use the Infiltrator Template (that's their job, after all—commando)
- All Characters will have the "Assaulter" Shooting Style (not exclusively, though—others may be taken in addition, if desired)
- All Characters will have the "Military Hand-To-Hand, MCMAP" Martial Arts Style by default—may be replaced with another, as desired
- We will be using the "Ships and Crews" section of Spaceships 2 (p.26) to handle company assets and financial concerns—obviously, replace "ship" with "company" in these cases. Whatever assets the company will have will be purchased (we'll use real-world prices & availability). If you want the WTF parent company to assist with the assets, you will (all) also need a Patron—we'll deal with the specifics as it comes up
- Required: at least one auxiliary character, to fill whatever role is needed and missing from the PCs' skillsets; if this character is expected to be in the fighting alongside, take him as an Ally, otherwise he will be treated as a "Hireling." Some potential needs: Medic, Spy/Analyst, Hacker, Tech, Driver, Pilot, Sniper, Support Gunner, Demolitionist/Engineer, Translator, B&E, Admin, Negotiator/Broker; any number of these Roles could be combined into a single individual. I won't require the auxiliaries to be fully "created," but they will need to be defined a bit (enough that I can create them myself). Not sure about point-levels, yet
Other Considerations- Concentrate on combat abilities, but you probably shouldn't neglect the non-combat stuff entirely
- Don't over-specialize—there may be some instances where you need to fill other roles
- Actual names this time; "Butter" as a surname should be preceded by a given name like John/Mike/Steve/etc.
- Characters need to be re-thought from the perspective of, "Would the Company actually hire this person for this job?"
- Characters must be able to move freely within the United States (must be citizen, naturalized, or have a valid work-visa—some of the non-Americans will need some adjustment); Addendum: Bearing that in mind, it would probably be less-than-ideal for all of the characters to be obviously American, too, as the team would stand out a little too much in foreign operations
- Encouraged Languages: French (Africa), Spanish (Central America), Arabic (Middle East)

Rick EvansonBorn on a U.S. army base, somewhere in Asia. His father encouraged him to pursue martial arts and a career in the military. At 17 he enlisted and excelled. He won multiple medals including one for single-handedly attacking an entrenched bunker where an injured team member was being held hostage. He managed to take out 50 enemies then patch up his friend and carry him 20 miles across the dessert on his back when the vehicle he confiscated broke down. He was sent to special forces where he spent 7 of the best years of his life, according to him. Things were going great until...the incident. He was pulled off his assignment to lead a squad, which included a General's son, on a high profile mission. The general's son was worthless as a soldier and a human being and Rick knew it immediately. He tried to get out of it but couldn't. Things went bad. They came under fire and the General's son lost it and started shooting from the vehicle into a crowd of civilians. Rick grabbed the general's son and threw him down onto the seat. With Rick distracted nobody noticed the enemy soldier with an RPG, the cabin exploded and ignited their flammable cargo. Rick was able to make it out alive but none of the others were that lucky. It was all caught on camera and the media was clambering for answers. Partly because of the General's ire and partly because they needed a scapegoat Rick's dishonorable discharge was quickly pushed through. Rick woke up from his coma months later with horrible burn scars covering most of the left side of his body, including his face. His found out his wife had been cheating on him the whole time he had been in the coma and was hoping that he would die. The sight of his new face and his discharge from the military disgusted her. Rick decided not challenge custody for his daughter. He didn't want his daughter to see him looking the way he did. But he struggles with this decision and part of him hopes to one day reconcile with his daughter. Down on his luck and almost ready to give up on his life he was approached by (insert PC here), an old army buddy. The company he worked for did the research and ruled that he wasn't responsible for what happened during the incident. They offered him the job and he readily took it. He is nowhere near the soldier he was before the incident but he is still one of the world's elite. 3-3-3 Family: Linda Evanson: Rick's Daughter age 15. Even though her mother continually tells her her father is dead she has never believed her for a second. She has made it her personal mission to find out what happened to her father. Caitlan Trant. Ex-wife and complete b*****, she changed her name back to her maiden name right after the divorce. Actor: Sharon Stone Bill and Virginia Evanson: Mom and dad, Father is proud of his son and Rick visits them whenever he can. His mom burst into a tearful fit when she saw the burns on his face, but she seems to have adapted. Friends Tom Blazier: Owns a biker bar. Evanson walked in to the bar one day and ordered a drink. Blazier and his customers told him to get out. So Evanson repeated his order more firmly. A member of the gang smacked Rick across the back with a bar stool. Two minutes later most of the gang were beaten and cowed. Evanson repeated his order one last time. Tom laughed and poured him a drink on the house. They have been good friends ever since. Actor: Mickey Rourke or Kris Kristofferson Amy Moates :Neighbor across the hall. potential love interest. [PC]: Rivals Senator Matthew Giles: The general from Evanson's background has worked his way up to Senator. He has made it his personal mission to make Evanson's life miserable and uses whatever resources he has available to make that happen. He has even tried to talk "The Company" into firing Evanson. Actor: James Cromwell Patricia Beckman: Landlady at his apartment Max : Former best friend and army buddy, "took liberties" with Rick's wife while he was in a coma. He currently works with a rival company.

John Noqed- born in Tel Aviv, parents died when he was 10 thanks to suicide bombers so he moved to the US to live with his mother's family. Joined US Army at 17 and has been infantry for 10-12 years (hence, E-6 or E-7 rank.) While in Iraq, was captured by insurgents who discovered he was both Israeli and Jewish, so he had a ... difficult time before his unit rescued him. As a result of this, he's likely claustrophobic with some minor (-5) flashbacks. Family: - Anastasia ("Nastya") Rostov - cousin. Of an age with John, they grew up together and generally treat one another like siblings rather than cousins. Nastya is a single mother - her baby daddy turned out to be a piece of crap who knocked her up and then left. She currently lives in Chicago and is the reason John visits that city.
- John ("Johnny") Rostov - Nastya's six year old son. Named for his "uncle." He looks up to SSG Noqed as a Heroic Father Figure, and John does his best to live up to this.
- Eli Noqed - John's paternal grandfather. He is an old school IDF hard ass who may or may not have worked for Mossad. At GM's option, he may be in the States when the invasion begins.
Friends- SFC Billy Hogue - John's platoon sergeant. They've known each other for their entire careers, having gone through Basic and AIT together.
- 1st Lieutenant Roberto Martinez - John's platoon leader. The LT was captured alongside John by the Iraqi insurgents, so they bonded over torture.
- Hollis Williams - John's "brotha from another motha." Best friend in high school, Hollis (John jokingly calls him "Holly" because he knows how much it irks his friend) is now pretty sketchy about what he does for a living, prompting John to suspect he's either a drug dealer or an undercover cop.
Foes:- Jack R. Daniels - Nastya Rostov's "baby daddy" and a general POS. John knew he was bad news just from the name itself. After the jackass broke Nastya's heart, John paid him a visit and broke Jack's face. As far as Noqed is concerned, it was an uneven trade. He should have broken limbs too. He also sincerely doesn't care what Daniels does for a living, as long as he doesn't bother Nasty or little Johnny again.
- Saleem - full name unknown. The ringleader of the insurgents who tortured John and LT Martinez, he's also the only one who survived (somehow.) John has no idea where the guy is and kind of hopes he took a round to the face.
- T-Dog - local gangbanger and drug dealer who harasses the people on Nastya's block. John has had a couple of run-ins with him that didn't end well.

is my original character "sharkie" out? He'll need some tweaking, but generally, I don't have a problem with him Having said that, all the existing characters will end up needing to be tweaked a bit—not using the "fake Disads" this time

Rather than use John here (and the Fantasy Grounds game), I'll probably do a different character. Thinking C.J. Kent, maybe? Likely go with a straight-up Shooter instead of Assassin...

I will probably go ahead and use Naomi, but with some tweaks, of course.
