Heavily revised. Since zenwolf has abandoned the 2 NPC level character and I'm looking at doing something different, I have, with GM's approval, decided to abandon that poor plot bunny.
Corum Half-Blood. Son of farmers, Corum's father is a human peasant who, somehow, gained the love of an elven woman. The story of how this happened varies according to whom is telling it, how much ale has been consumed, and the mood of the storyteller at the time. Suffice to say, they love one another very much and provided a very stabilizing presence in Corum's life.
He jumped at the chance to get off the farm and quickly signed up with the local militia for a tour as they patrolled the area to defend against hobgoblins and bandits.
ETA: Some pretty awesome stats, I must say. GM, feel free to adjust them downward if necessary since he is NPC class.

Updated history: The son of a human woodsman named Dorian and an elven woman named Cymoril, Corum grew up loved and well adjusted. Although he was half-elven, he looks almost entirely human, while his younger brother, Daryl, who worshiped the ground he walked on, and their sister, Eilmaque (named for their maternal grandmother) could pass as one of the fair folk. While Corum's family was not especially rich, they were by no means stricken by abject poverty. At an early age, Corum realized that being a farmer wasn't for him, but he struggled on until goblin raiders slew his brother Daryl. When Lord Ridgewood began recruiting for a militia to conduct reprisal strikes against those goblins, Corum leaped at the opportunity to volunteer. His father, Dorian, bequeathed upon his eldest the composite shortbow that he'd carried during his own days with the militia, the same weapon that he'd born when he won the love of Corum's mother. Corum promised his parents and his little sister that he would come back and marched off with the militia.
What happened after that ... well, that's a story for another time...

Updated: Thinking Misha Collins (circa his portrayal of Alexis Drazen in 24 as opposed to the more recent Castiel on Supernatural) as the portrayal... Look! He even has "fantasy" hair! LOL

Love the open background idea. One paragraph, then a cliff hanger. I like it.

Okay, so I'm thinking about aiming for Arcane Archer, which will require me to take a level of something that allows me to cast arcane spells. What I'm thinking about doing is, when he levels up, taking 1 level of Duskblade (from PHB2), which will improve my BAB, give me a couple of nifty spells, give me armored casting, and even a +2 to Fort & Will (the latter of which I desperately need.) Then, I'll take levels in Scout until I meet the requirements for Arcane Archer (at 10th level). Planned Feats: - 3rd level (PC feat, Commoner1/Warrior1/Duskblade1) - Weapon Focus (shortbow)
- 6th level (PC feat, Commoner1/Warrior1/Duskblade1/Scout3) - Mobility
- 7th level (PC feat, Commoner1/Warrior1/Duskblade1/Scout4) - PB Shot
- 9th level (PC feat, Commoner1/Warrior1/Duskblade1/Scout6) - Precise Shot
Also, @ the GM, there is a Weapon Special Ability in the Magic Item Compendium called Deadly Precision that provides a bonus +1d6 when you make a successful sneak attack or sudden strike (which is ninja sneak attack) - can we include the scout's Skirmish ability for this?
