Ok, I understand not everyone can make every game. I am absolutely fine with that.
But we need to lay down some ground rules, and I need everyone's help.
Here is my take on how I would like to see things play out.
1) If I am not notified that your are not playing, your character gets only 1/4 xp. (He or she is assumed to be taking care of their kingdom duties, ie... the spy-master is collecting information, the diplomat is out to a nearby kingdom, the marshal or warden are executing their jobs, etc).
2) If you do notify me for a legitimate reason (not "I am just not feeling it." <then see #1>) I will grant 1/2xp. Same basic premise as #1, but you communicated with us so the party could PLAN on your absence.
3) If you desire someone to play your character it will be allowed as long as the following are taken into account
a) there are no more than 5 'live' players
b) both player and surrogate are in accord
c) the player accepts that what the surrogate does with the player, is the ultimate fate of the character. (if the character dies on the surrogate's watch, he dies, if he spends money, it's spent etc...)
d) the character to be played is updated
e) This is a first come first serve, so the earlier you post, and the earlier your surrogate agrees the higher your priority. (Both need to POST their intent.)
f) only one player per surrogate
If the above is satisfied then the character will be granted full xp.
The main issue that I face is the party size, we are down to 7 active PCs. I can make this work, but only if everyone is communicating, I need time to plan ahead and make it at least a little challenging.
Please comment, it will take us all to make this work. So edit or suggest alternatives to the above.
(Note: Kingdom building experience is granted fully to everyone regardless of attendance.)
