[Spellcasting in this game will be (initially) limited: Mages are tightly regulated and monitored, ala Dragon Age. The Chantry (which is the primary faith) has charged itself with protecting the world from mages. Anyone can seek Healing from them but will be tested for arcane ability and then forced into the Mages’ Guild. Addendum: The Chantry suppression of Mages truly began in Korvosa under the reign of Queen Domina, the current king's late mother, and was at it's most intense a decade prior to the beginning of the campaign when the Templars rooted out a Darkfriend infestation at the Acadamae. Since that time, the grip of Templars has waned considerably as many Korvosan locals grew tired of the bullying tactics relied upon by the Order of the Nail. Currently, the official edict that No Mage Shall Be Unattended is only loosely enforced - as long as an arcane caster does not draw too much attention to himself, many the citizens of the city will pay them little heed. Those who would not pay their bills, however, or the fools who unleash vulgar magics in the street commons will quickly find the Templars summoned with their magic-suppressing shackles, as will those who might interact with the more fanatical members of the citizenry.
