You guys also have some other lootage that isn't hard coin (the crate of gold ore, for example) that can be used.
Don't ask how. It's magic. Your damned ancestors are some greedy bastards...

I will, if there's enough for everyone Well, On that list what does everyone want so can figure out the resale value and then determine if everyone wants to upgrade their stuff.... I would probably take a Mwk Rapier and Lt. Crossbow. I think the group needs to keep a few potions of Endure Elements, the entirety of the Cure Mods, and the entirety of potion of Darkvision Everyone else?

Do you want any alchemist's fire? Still have some. Keep them if we don't need to squeeze out that last few GP, otherwise, sell them

1. Pursue what happened with his birth and why he has the curse (not necessarily to lift it but to understand it) - the curse is something that is always on the forefront of his mind, but at the same time, he knows it's not evil (due to multiple tests throughout his life) so it's lost it's priority at fixing it...however, he is still very interested in who his father was and wants to get to the bottom of that mystery 2. Pursue beginning to make a name for himself dueling and all the issues that come with it - addressed this in the "edit" of my previous post i think 3. Further ingratiate himself with Aria's house and maybe begin building trust in order to split the house duties. - i think with the direction that i'm wanting to take with the "duelist" option, this might work itself out, hoping that coming to the aid of the little guys will help her reputation ] 4. Last time we were in Korvosa, the Red Ghost made his appearance and Orisini said he has worked with him a lot in the past... investigate that! - this could be done while going thru my training, with attempts at off hand conversation with others at the academy about the Red Ghost 5. Delilah was pretty much throwing herself at Mardak before... pursue it... She seems to want to be a hero... we are supposed to be heroic-ish... maybe she can be of use - with brain mush i'd actually forgotten about this, i think this could also tie in to the investigating the Red Ghost too...just not gonna push it all the time

as well, i would like to "buff" my thinblade, if possible, with either the +1 or Keen status' via utilizing some of the loot - my pref would be the Keen unless it has to go +1 first Yeah, it has to go to +1 first.

ok...so will go the route of +1 first

ok...so will go the route of +1 first Before you do this, did you want any of the loot we got? Or should we resell it all to purchase upgrades (like the +1 on the thinblade)?

You're technically not "reselling" it, but rather consuming it for the appropriate ritual to improve your gear.

I know but we'd resell the stuff outside of ritual stuff... I just need word from Chris3

@rigil. For the 'upgrade' of ancestral weapons. I think Aria and Valsul will be going from a +1 to +2 (equiv). Does this mean they would need to 'pay' 8000 GP (the cost of a +2 weapon) or 6000 GP (the cost of a +2 weapon MINUS the cost of the +1 weapon they already have)?

If we are going by the ancestral relic feat I think it would be 6000. This is what the feat says from srd20-

Val's item isn't a weapon, so it won't be quite that expensive, but yes, they would pay the difference between +1 and +2 (6000 gp in your example.) Also, everyone will need to consult the Book of Exalted Deeds and the Ancestral Relic feat. At 5th level, the maximum value of that relic is 4,500 gp, so going to a +2 weapon isn't going to happen yet.

Also, everyone will need to consult the Book of Exalted Deeds and the Ancestral Relic feat. At 5th level, the maximum value of that relic is 4,500 gp, so going to a +2 weapon isn't going to happen yet. I was just about to point this out as well. I just wanted to make sure that the maximum value represents the total value of the weapon. So if I wanted a +2 weapon (which would be worth 8000), then I couldn't upgrade till level 7 (with a max of 9500 for that level) even though I am only investing an additional 6000. Is that right?

Post by WxMAN on Oct 31, 2012 8:41:06 GMT -6
Okay... so Giger did you want an upgrade (if so how much)? We already know Mardak is going to +1. Aria can't really upgrade due to the ceiling.
|
|
|
Post by Rigil Kent on Oct 31, 2012 8:48:14 GMT -6
Yes, but that is correct. It isn't that a big a surprise though - a +2 weapon is potentially very powerful. For example, if Mardak had a +2 (+1 keen) on his thinblade, he'd have a threat range of 15-20 all the time.
I mentioned the possibility of upgrading the AR's because I didn't think everyone had even bumped their's past MW - I thought it was just Aria & Val who had done that previously.

ok...just because this "just" occurred to me...are duels usually to the death, or the pain (and not as in Dread Pirate Roberts) cause if to the death...then keen would definitely be needed...if not, keen could be an issue

Historically, they're either to-the-death, or to "first blood"

so, keen will definitely be a needed upgrade Yes it will be, but since you are going to +1 you have to do that first before adding in keen

Now for everyone's favorite part of D&D.... Walmart d20! Using all the maths ever, here is what we'll be selling and what we'll be using for upping our ancestral items: Selling at 50%:- 2x Masterwork Composite Longbows [+2] @ 600 GP ea.
- 1x Masterwork Light Crossbow @ 320 GP
- 3x Masterwork Daggers @ 302 GP ea.
- 4x +1 Chain Shirts @ 1250 GP ea.
= 7426 GP * 50% = 3713 GP resale Selling at 60% (to Logain)- 1x Wand, Cure Moderate Wounds (34 Charges) @ 3060 GP
- 21x Potion, Endure Elements @ 50 GP ea.
- 4x Everburning Torch @ 110 GP ea.
- 1x Scroll, Bull's Strength (from Jareth) @ 150 GP
= 4700 GP * 60% = 2820 GP resale Selling at 100% (trade goods)- 5x Gems (Assorted) @ 180 GP ea.
- 1x Porcelain Asp and Shield Brooch @ 25 GP
- 1x Moss Agate @ 10 GP
- 1x Crate, Gold Ore @ 8500 GP
- 1x Diamond Necklace @ 2000 GP
= 11,435 GP Current Coffers114 GP 17 SP 4 CP GRAND TOTAL18082 GP 17 SP and 4 CP =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Now. Jareth, Mardak and Val all want to upgrade their Ancestral Items, but the items 'sacrificed' for that are given a 1:1 gold value. So Val needs 3000 GP. So he will sacrifice: - 1x +1 Rapier @ 2320 GP
- 1x Masterwork Light Crossbow @ 320 GP
- 1x Masterwork Shortspear @ 361 GP
= 3001 GP. 1 GP over. Mardak needs 2000 GP. So he will sacrifice: - 4x Masterwork Rapiers @ 335 GP ea.
- 1x Masterwork Dagger @ 302 GP
- 1x Masterwork Shortspear @ 361 GP
= 2003 GP. 3 GP over. Jareth needs 4200 GP. So he will sacrifice: - 2x +1 Chain Shirt @ 1250 GP ea.
- 2x Masterwork Light Crossbow @ 640 GP ea.
- 1x Masterwork Shortspear @ 361 GP
- 1x Masterwork Composite Longbows [+2] @ 600 GP
- 2x Potion, Endure Elements @ 50 GP ea.
= 4201 GP. 1 GP over. Now, to fairly determine how much of each person's "share" they used during the ancestral relic sacrifices, I took the resale value of each item (since that is the most we'd get for it if we sold instead of sacrificed it) and added them all up. Val and Mardak were easy as everything was at 50%, Jareth had 2 items at 60% which hurt a little extra. Any "extra" you burned also counts since I am sure Rigil won't be letting us get the amount 'extra' we went over. So I tried to minimize the over value the best I could... 5 GP over with 3 people ain't bad in my eyes. So it all boils down to: Val used 1500 GP and 5 SP Mardak used 1001 GP and 5 SP Jareth used 2110 GP and 5 SP So that means the end amount of money each of us get are as follows: Aria gets 4520 GP, 9 SP and 3 CP Mardak gets 3519 GP, 4 SP and 3 CP Jareth gets 2660 GP, 4 SP and 3 CP Val gets 2770 GP, 4 SP and 3 CPThis assumes Val gives Jareth the 250 GP he owed him for the Everlasting rations and it leaves 2 CP in the group fund because I'm not splitting 2 CP by 4 or you'll all get 1/2 CP.. MATHS!
