Val - Arashikage provides him with a Name: Lord Galdur Vendikon. He is a known spellcaster and graduate of the Acadamae. His home is a manor in The Heights. How the Man dies matters not to Arashikage, but he is to die I'll take the Pickpocket mission, the Eavesdropping mission, and the Informer mission—plus casing the joint, the old-fashioned way.

- Eavesdropping - Listen check.
- Informer - That, I'm not sure how to approach that one. Any thoughts? Maybe a Gather Information check?
- Casing the joint - we'll need a Climb, Hide, Move Silently, Open Lock, Sleight of Hand check

- Casing the joint - Spot

The Pickpocket mission fails and results in the guy you were trying to steal from noticing. In this case, he ran screaming for Lord Vendikon's guards, forcing you to flee through the streets. After an hour or so of playing hide and seek with your pursuers, you manage to lose them. Unfortunately, this information is now lost to you - no reloading!
The Eavesdropping mission succeeds, and you successfully overhear a pair of guards grumbling about how Lord Vendikon has been losing his temper more and more frequently of late. Of the two, the older guard appears more world-weary and warns Junior to just keep his head down and his mouth shut. When Junior asks about the Fourth Floor and how there are no stairs leading to it, Senior loses his temper and warns his companion that the last of the guards who poked into that disappeared.
The Informant mission succeeds and you pursue a spy for House Thrune through the Shingles in an epic race to prevent him from turning over a map of "Vendikon Keep" (which I will put up on the Portals site later.) Unfortunately for this spy, he was not as good with the whole jumping and tumbling as you were and ended up taking a terminal fall from a failed leap.
Casing the Joint is fairly successful. You are able to tell that Lord Vendikon has a lot of guards, but appears to have few other social interactions. You're able to identify something of a routine for the house guards.

Current Plan (until new information is presented):
At o-dark-30, providing there is no light coming from the fourth-floor windows (or other indication that the mark is not present), take advantage of holes in the guard rotation to scale the building to the fourth-floor (using the larger parts of the building as cover), and enter through the windows. Inside, use the rafters/attic/whatever as a hiding place, more-or-less directly above the casting circle. When the mark comes to cast his spells, and is in concentration, use blowgun w/ Blue Whinnis Drow Poison to KO, then suffocate to death (hand over nose/mouth?). Wait for darkness (if required) to egress, same as ingress.
Should result in the mark being dead for quite some time before anyone finds him, at which point it will be very difficult to say what happened for certain—as planned, there won't be any sign of a struggle.

I'll see if Ari wants to do a trade, some Med Spider Venom (150gp, ×11) for Drow Poison (75gp)

Yeah, he'll do that. He has a total of 5 doses on him. Okay. - Hide check
- Move Silently check
- Climb check.
- Open Lock check (to get through the window - it isn't a "lock" per se, but the skill works.
- Another Climb check.
- Another Hide check.
- Another Move Silently check.
- Percentile role to see if you poisoned yourself (only a 5% chance)
- Attack roll with the blowgun.

Doing anything else in the area or just exfiltrating? Guess he'll never go rogue unless he's "naturally curious"—and maybe he's got some time to kill before his exit window—so he'll poke around upstairs and see what the guy was up to.

Looks like he was casting out of a spellbook or maybe practicing or something. Since Val doesn't have the capacity to read magic, he doesn't know what it says.
ETA: Other than that, it's your usual wizard's lab.

Then, it'll be reverse checks from before to climb up & out, relock the window, climb down, sneak, etc. to avoid drawing notice.

Search results: Atop one of the book-crammed desks, you find a scroll tube that stands out because you've seen the style before ... in Arashikage's "headquarters." It is resting upon a sheet of parchment that has a rough sketch of a human who looks strikingly like Jareth; on this sheet is a lock of hair.

Arashikage will reply in his usual manner, pointing out that Val needs to learn how to shut up and simply obey. His curiosity will lead to his downfall. It is none of Val's business why this man would have such a thing. Sense Motive check, please.
