Okay, Aria is going to go to the Aspis headquarters to get some information. Jareth apparently read the request over Aria's shoulder because he expressed interest to go with her. Jareth is going to act as her "aide" in order to introduce her as the Honerable Lady Stearkweather etc. Etc. So that she appears better off than she currently is. She will ask approx. How many people are needed, how long until reinforcements arrive, see if there is any change of events since the summons. Once she has that information she will go back to the rest of her party and see if they are interested in helping her for an equal share of the profits.

This would essentially lead to a sort of mini-adventure that would take the characters out of the city for a few weeks. Basically, they are saying "We need a group of Player Characters for a short span of time."

Well Aria is up for it if the rest of the characters are. What say you, men?

Also, Gather Information checks are doable to determine more information if desired.

Also, Gather Information checks are doable to determine more information if desired. I would assume Jareth will be doing the actual gather info check but I would like to help, if possible. [dice=20] + 3[rand=70789920911192890685606012120843910393506987020406661415239796042]

Results of the Gather Information check:
The Aspis Consortium is one of the most profitable traders in Varisia. It is also one of the most ruthless against its rivals. Even the various pirate factions in this area are loath to attack an Aspis Consortium shipment on account of the skilled mercenaries the company employs as guards.
Whitebridge Station - the halfway point - is a boon to everyone who trades in along the Jeggare River. It serves as a jumping-off point for caravans heading toward the Janderhoff. The Aspis Consortium runs it but lets anyone use it, charging only a small toll.
Nestled between lofty peaks of the Mindspin Mountains, the Bloodsworn Vale has been forgotten by civilization for decades. Once a well-worn path connecting the heartland of the empire with its more remote colonies, it now exists as an unclaimed and unspoiled woodland. The years have erased the road and various monsters, once held in check by the Empire’s soldiers, have all but overrun the valley. Today, the vale is a dangerous place, thick with tenacious plants, cruel monsters, and hungry predators.
Two years ago, King Arabasti, the aging lord of Korvosa, decided to reclaim the vale for his crown, planning to tame it and reopen the important trade route with the south. He charged Sir Tolgrith, one of his more trusted vassals, with this task. Soon afterward, the loyal knight enlisted the Aspis Consortium to assist and set off into the vale, reopening the northern mountain pass and establishing Nightfall Station in the heart of the valley.
Nightfall Station quickly became extremely profitable thanks to the management of the Aspis station manager, Mynafee Gorse, a Chelish nobleman, who is said to have contacts with dozens of tribes of humanoids in the area that procure the gold and valuable ores that are shipped back in prodigious amounts.

Has it been agreed that the group will embark on this side-quest?

Has it been agreed that the group will embark on this side-quest? Why would we refuse?—or rather, why would the Players refuse? (I presume the Characters will be dragged along, kicking and screaming, if necessary)

Why would the Players refuse? (I presume the Characters will be dragged along, kicking and screaming, if necessary) You presume incorrectly. It is simply a potential side-mission that will take the characters out of the city for a few weeks, and if the group feels like it isn't worth it (too much risk, too little reward or perhaps it does not pass the smell test for some of you), then it will be skipped over. The reason I put it forward as an option is due to Aria's rank and her stated desire to expand her House's authority/prestige/presence. People want things from nobles, so they sought her out. Doesn't mean she has to say yes.

My point is what kind of RPG players would we be if we refused a perfectly normal opportunity for Adventure™? At any rate, if Aria asks for help, and it doesn't conflict with anything in particular (we haven't done anything with the "guard" thing, yet), then he'll contribute.
Of course, it sounded to me like this was going to be played out on Friday—if not, who knows? Probably the same conditions apply.

I'm fine with it.
Jareth (obviously) wants to help Aria and this is the first noble house she's had confront her for help - so it will be an important step to reestablishing her name... That and Jareth just had the bejeezus scared out of him from almost dying (in Rolth's dungeon) and the Alleyway Wizard... not to mention the Spider King is still looking for him... cooling the heat for a couple weeks/months (in-game time) may not be a bad thing...
