So, I have a question about the distracted/off topic stuff....I know we all have busy lives between work, gaming, school, etc...but has anyone thought about getting together from time to time just to hang out...no gaming or anything, just get together to BS...I know the M.E.A.T. thing was an annual thing to do that, but what if we do it a little more often (maybe have a pot luck/movie screening thing) just so we can chat or whatever without taking away from the game...just a thought

I love throwing get togethers! We can have movies and I can feed everyone and it will be awesome! We can even invite the people that haven't been able to get to the table in a while! Fun!! p.s. I don't know how to move this to the proper section, so I am sorry if I am screwing up critics corner.

So a few days ago Chris III mentioned having hangout nights every once in a while. I've always liked the idea, but we haven't really been pro-active in that department outside of M.E.A.T. fest. I just didn't know if this is something that people actually want to do. If so, then I can start planning something. If not, then no big deal. This of course will also be open to people who haven't been at the table recently. So feel free if you lurkers want to weigh in as well.

I'm in...could make them themed events if that sounds good too...or maybe even have them be "release" parties if a movie comes out on DVD that we all want to see...

...I did? I don't remember that. Anyway, I am up for anything, it all depends on if other people have the desire to meet outside of gaming.

So, should we begin to compile an actual list of what we're going to air on Friday? I know that Giger wants to do the Terra Nova thing, but what else? I was thinking that, with LabRat about to run her game, it might be a good idea to watch Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World for feel and tone of sailing ship stuff.
Also, what about food? How do we want to handle that? What do we want to get?

I'm good with both of those titles ...trying to think of something else along those lines (other than the PotC movies) do we want to all chip in and order pizza or something, do a potluck, or just fend for ourselves?

Actually, now that you mention it, the first Pirates movie would probably be a better choice. Not as close to accurate in terms of sailing and life on a ship in that era, but more fitting for a D&D game...
Plus, there's the Interceptor, which is the size of the ship LabRat indicated we'd have. I don't think I own that DVD but it might be on Netflix...

Is this still being planned for Birddog or would y'all like to do it at our house (or SQ if he's offered)?

Wherever we do it will have its own unique issues. I lean toward BirdDog—the devil you (or in this case, "I") know.

do we want to all chip in and order pizza or something, do a potluck, or just fend for ourselves? I am good for chipping in for pizza simply because I may get one that has pineapple on it ::waits for Nate to start complaining:: Also, I am bringing pie, because for some reason I have a desire to make pie and feel guilty making a whole pie for just me and Nate. I'll bring a couple flavors (don't worry Giger, I won't bring any fruit pie). If anyone wants a specific flavor, let me know! Actually, now that you mention it, the first Pirates movie would probably be a better choice. Not as close to accurate in terms of sailing and life on a ship in that era, but more fitting for a D&D game... I would agree, but really I am okay with any sailing movie. I haven't seen Master and Commander so either is fine with me. Or any other movie, tbh. It doesn't necessarily have to revolve around sailing.

I am good for chipping in for pizza simply because I may get one that has pineapple on it ::waits for Nate to start complaining:: Oh ... maybe we could split it. Like ... a two topping with pineapple and ... pineapple. Mmmmm... Fruit! Apple or cheery or ... hmm ... is there such a thing as pineapple pie? So, I'll bring M&C:TFSotW and Budah can bring Pirates1. If we don't get to one or the other, that's groovy...

(don't worry Giger, I won't bring any fruit pie) Fruit is fine when it's hidden inside something else. Blackberry cobbler is a fave of mine, for example.

Fruit is fine when it's hidden inside something else. Blackberry cobbler is a fave of mine, for example. Oh okay, well that changes things. Okay, let's do this. I'll write down the pies I can make, everyone give me their top two favorites and then I'll make a couple depending on what people say. I am excited! I only get to make pie twice a year! - Apple
- Cherry -cherries aren't in season, so I would have to make this with that pre-made cherry pie filling stuff (I don't know if that matters or not)
- Pecan
- Pumpkin
- Peanut Butter on a crushed oreo crust
- Chocolate Cream (aka French Silk) on a crushed oreo crust
- Chess
- Key Lime on graham cracker crust
- Lemon Chiffon
- Buttermilk
- Coconut Cream

- Key Lime always a winner
- WTF is "Chess?"
- Not terribly excited about pecan, but I can eat it
- Buttermilk is unfamiliar; not sure I like how it sounds
- Cherry > Apple
- PB could be interesting

I love key lime myself, but I don't usually make it because Nate doesn't like it. Buttermilk can also be known as a custard pie. If you've had creme brulee in your life, think of that in a crust. Chess pie is also more old fashioned pie (so is the buttermilk), the best way I can describe it is to think of taking the gooey filling of a pecan pie, make it taste more buttery, without the brown sugar. It is a very sweet pie. Peanut butter is a cream based pie, its very fluffy, kind of a like a mousse. It is probably the most popular one that I make. It is Nate's favorite, so I will probably bring one of those because I haven't met someone who doesn't like it.

If we're doing pizza, we need to determine how much of what we're getting from where, and how to pay for it
