Ran great those two weeks (thanks) now there seems to be a connection problem, very low ping and not able to stay connected. I updated the java, DNS updater, and restarted the server. Hopefully this should fix any issues.

It was on my end, did a reboot of my modem and that did the job.

1.15 is now entering pre-release. It will need a regen, though maybe not an entirely new world.

Well... McN, Giger, CJ, LabRat... same world regenned or new world? Remember that 1.6 is the Nether update, so at the very least I'd have to regen the nether.... but that is likely many months or a year away

Regen first, then decide whether or not to restart?

1.15 is released today (they moved it up a day).
For those not watching the development: basically, they just added bees, honey, hives, etc. But the other thing they've done is changed the rendering engine and optimized a lot, so performance should be greatly improved.
@n8: I think the bees mostly just generate on trees, so we could probably get away with just refreshing the forested areas, at least in the vicinity of people's current development.

I'll try to get the McEditting done "soon" then let it rerender in the newest version.... hopefully tomorrow? I'll shut down the server once I start the McEdit stuff to prevent people from losing work.

I tried to get close to what I could see above ground - so I may have cleaned too close if there is a lot of underground stuff. Let me know if you want me to reinstate some areas based on the maps below and I'll get the server started again this evening, hopefully this will allow the update to give lots of bees in the cleaned areas. This is the world before being "cleaned". This is the world after being "cleaned".

I poked around in single-player 1.15 last night, and the performance improvements, specifically chunk-loading, were definitely noticeable. The new rendering engine seems a bit "sharper," too.

Server back up and updated to 1.15.
I'd be careful putting a ton of effort into something for the next couple days until we know McN and Labrat didn't lose anything

I've done a circuit around, and I don't see any glaring issues so far—individual results may vary. Spotted a couple of hives, so that's working, too.

@n8: I'd like to try an experiment. Extract the attached zip to .minecraft/saves/(WorldName)/generated/minecraft/structures pinta.zip (4.58 KB)

Something I learned about recently is that if, in the settings, you drop the frame-rate down from the default 120 to something more reasonable, like 60 (still more than the human eye can process), the leftover processing can be diverted to increasing the max chunk render distance.
I dropped my FPS to 60, and increased chunk distance to 17, with almost no noticeable performance loss—but way better visuals. That was before the update.

For the curious/confused, I saved a "structure" (one of the ship designs of mine) from one of my single-player worlds, and it is now available (name: pinta) on the N8server, to anyone
