For the record, stop using those thumbs up and down icons. They show up as animated kissy faces on the android app and it's really freaking me out.

Plans for next week - for some unknown reason I go unconscious
- remain unconscious
- by the end of the night, I'm still unconscious

Next week: - Attempt to get radio tower or whatever that is up and running and make contact with SOMEONE?
- Further explore the town of Council Grove
- Head west, looking for food and a defensible position so we can start resting
- Still need to start experiments on zombies

Attempt to get radio tower or whatever that is up and running and make contact with SOMEONE? Looked it over today. That building is an insurance company; not sure what's up with the satellite dishes. I don't think that's a radio tower, either, but I can't make out what it is otherwise.

Even if it isn't a radio tower we need to find some sort of communication in order to establish the scope of this thing. There may be "safety zones" or something set up and we don't even know it. If we find out that the world is pretty much screwed then we need to decide if we find a place and hole up or if we become essentially nomadic. Those are more long term goals though. In the short, I want to explore the town a bit. I want to try to find something that will give us a clue of what is going on in the outside world, and I would like to try to track down some basic first aid/medical supplies...just in case.

You guys have a decent map of Kansas, now, which will include Council Grove and environs, so you'll be able to tell what's around. Not sure how much I should point out to you or not…
Also for the record: Matt brought along his medical supplies—not a lot, but it's something.

Locating a radio station, ham radio, television station or something else should probably be on the top of our list so we can try to figure out what actually happened.
With that in mind, I think I'd probably want to find a fairly recent phone book and use that to locate an actual radio station or something similar.

They actually make phone books still?

Yeah. They drop the stupid things off outside the apartment every now and then. I don't know why they bother, really...

Stuff for this week: - Still need GCA file for Korbin
- Planning to split the group, w/ Nick, Ann, & Matt staying behind to guard the truck—what might Wes, Korbin and John be doing? Those players that will not be present are still welcome to contribute
- I'm working on specifics of what's been recovered. I will allow the use of plot points for "Player Guidance" to specify a particular weapon/item is in the sleeping bag
- Now that we've played a bit, it would be a good idea to revisit the "what would you like to see/do" thing

Ok, getting clarification..when we left off last time the group had pulled into a local garage to wait out the storm and to check the truck over ...

Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow, you might be a zombie.
I reiterate: Locating a radio station, ham radio, television station or something else should probably be on the top of our list so we can try to figure out what actually happened.

Obviously my first thought, since it was brought up, but there's no good reason you wouldn't want to take Nick along for that one (unless there is)

OK, so maybe there is already a CB radio or something in that garage and he's focused on it while those of us who are Active PCs go out and scavenge?

OK, so maybe there is already a CB radio or something in that garage and he's focused on it while those of us who are Active PCs go out and scavenge? Good enough reason to keep him there. Why would the others go out in the middle of a thunderstorm? I suppose they could go after—gonna take Nick some time to get that thing working in the first place, if at all. You've got plenty of stuff for now; what to go looking for?

Yeah, definitely thinking post-thunderstorm, post-food. As to what we are seeking, we'd probably want a larger supply of food, maybe any information we could obtain somewhere...

Look for a more semi permanent solution for a base of operations. Also will keep a lookout for a home improvement store.

Police station / EMS / Fire Station for gear and to help with finding some sort of reports as to WTF happened

And then, if they have a storage facility place, we can raid it too.

We've established a number of things to do for the near-future. But let's forecast a bit. If we were to flash-forward a few months into the future to what the characters hope to achieve, what would it look like, and then what do the players want it to look like?
|
|
|
Post by Rigil Kent on Jul 18, 2013 15:40:13 GMT -6
For me, a lot depends on what the characters learn in that time. If, for example, they find out that humanity is systematically being exterminated by "alien" invaders (or angels, pick your poison), then that character would probably want to find somewhere in the middle of freaking nowhere Montana that can be defended but has adequate resources to survive and hole up whereas the player would like the PCs to get sucked into the Resistance.
Principally, the Character wants to find safety.
Unfortunately for him, the Player doesn't want that at all and instead wants to live in Interesting Times (tm). He would like to see the Characters sucked into whatever the War (if there is one) is about and be forced to carve out reputations as Big Damned Heroes (even if said reps aren't exactly truthful.)

For everyone's informing, the players' Givens: - Jericho/Walking Dead period—society has disintegrated, but hasn't quite reformed into Road Warrior tribes or anything, and doesn't have Revolution-scale lawn-care problems
- Worldwide
- Population at -66% (2 out of 3 dead)
- Angels/Demons fighting over Earth—will pop in from time to time, Supernatural-like
- Zeds are all over; no other overt threats have presented—so, no "Resistance" as such
Not-Givens: BTW, it's perfectly fine to tell me what you would do with the story as GM

Heh. Sort of like they're "Exes" in the Ex-series ... ex-people is more PC than "zombie."
With those givens, the character would probably still like to try and at least carve out a "safe" zone (see before mentioned Montana ranch thing).
The player would like to get involved in the Angel/Demon fight somehow, but that's just cause he digs the heck out season 4 & 5 of Supernatural...
