Is it all that important to see the show? I mean, a basic outline: Earth is boned, we opened a gate to another world that has dinosaurs and only certain people were allowed there and we're trying to settle the place. Unless there is very specific show knowledge we need, because I "watched" it but cannot for the life of me remember almost any of it.

In his case, he doesn't have enough information to render a character preference, and the most efficient way to get one is to watch (some of) the show.
Edit: Trailer might be good enough?

Might expedite matters if we "help" ChrisIV a bit with his character. Is the team missing something? Right now we have a shooter, investigator (med focus), a mastermind/face (if WxMan sticks with that concept), and hacker/SME. The last two may not be there at the start. Also, given the reason we're shifting focus here, we probably don't want to over-specialize. With the mission being SAR/track-down, someone like a US-Marshal type might be good. Given the "frontier" nature of things, a survivalist/woodsman type might be good. I mentioned Gadgeteering before. A plain-old "analyst" might not go amiss. In the event any of you have the bandwidth to make a quick decision: What I'm intending for the characters is to use one of the base Action (250) Templates—including from other sources, though you're most likely to find the one you want in Action 1—along with a background Lens. At this point, all I need is a declaration for one or the other. Also, I don't really care if the templates overlap—I can try to tailor the game to the party. I think Rigil used Assassin+Military for Noqed. If Shelley sticks with the "forensics" angle, she'll probably be using Investigator. Related Note: If someone has been wanting to play a Gadgeteer-type, this would be a good campaign for it.

First thing that came to my mind was an outdoorman/wild/survivor type. Or at least someone who would be very comfortable tracking things in unknown territories. We need a bloodhound. Gadgeteer wouldn't be half bad either. I need someone to build me an ergonomic ankylosaurus saddle with rocket launchers.

It finally occurred to me that a good analogy for ChrisIV for the campaign/situation is Avatar (minus the giant smurfs)

It also occurs to me now that, since I've compared this to Tom Clancy stuff, that someone should play a "Jack Ryan"

Something you're missing - if this was truly a television show - is Joe Average who gets sucked into the craziness because he's a bystander who happens to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.

There was a brief possibility that we would need a one-shot ready to go this week, and I thought it would have been nice to have this thing ready for that purpose, but we still don't have all the characters sorted out. In the interest of saving some time and effort on your parts, and having something to work with, story-wise, on my part, I decided to go ahead and create the missing characters myself. I used the new Action 4 Specialists to generate these, for the most part, with a lot of tweaking; there's room for more—I didn't spend all the points, and didn't quite max out the Disads. That said, if we had to pick up with week's notice, now, we could. I expect you guys will personalize these, change actors, shuffle points, etc., at some point, and if you don't, there should be enough to work with. That said: Funny realization: if LabRat uses this character without significant alteration, we're going to have a pretty high "British" thing going on with the group as Jemma is clearly a Brit, but so are Stonebridge (my PC) and Rachel (his Ally/"wife").
