Rowan Terrowin LG, Human Cleric 3 Deity: Anselm, the Threefold God
Rowan Terrowin was born to a humble family in a small village relatively segregated from the rest of society at large. Most of his early life was spent going to school and church, learning basic weapon and armor training, and doing small odd jobs for the other citizens to help bring in extra income for his family. As Rowan grew older he became more and more involved with the church and the worshipping of Torm. Everything was set for the typical life of most of the other of his peers: to find love, have children, and grow old - all in the village where the cycle would start again. All of that changed, however, when a middle-aged gentleman wandered into the village one morning. Being a small village, word traveled quickly of this mysterious stranger who was staying in a spare room in the local church. As is typical for a curious teenager, Rowan Terrowin began spending many hours discussing things with the traveler, known as Hadrian Mowbray. Hadrian told Rowan that he was a representative of "The Eye of Justice" - a group who believed Torm was actually the combination of Torm, Tyr, and Helm, known as the Threefold God or Anselm. This was considered blasphemy by Torm worshippers and when Hadrian began proselytizing his beliefs in the village, a theological civil war began. After much introspection, Rowan decided to join Hadrian's Eye of Justice - putting him in the minority in the village. Friends and family of Rowan turned their back on him, seeing him as a fallen member of society and corrupted by a “cult.” For several months the two groups existed as a two separate societies inside the same village – neither side willing to have anything to do with the other. During guard duty one night, Rowan stumbled upon a secret meeting of a couple members of the Eye of Justice who were discussing their plans on undermining the church as well as their allegiance to Torm. Being inexperienced, Rowan attempted to have the conspirators surrender themselves, causing a swordfight. Minutes later the conspirators were killed by Rowan and a few other guards who came to help once they heard the commotion. In the next few days Clerics of Torm used the killing of two members of the village to stoke the flames of hate, leading the Eye of Justice to be exiled from the village. When the Eye of Justice finally found a new place to settle, Hadrian took Rowan under his wing, helping to ease the great self-doubt Rowan had after hearing past friends and family calling him a murderer. After several years of mentoring, Hadrian knew it was time for Rowan to venture out and spread the message of Anselm as Hadrian had done years prior.
Anselm (pronounced AHN-Zelm): Also known as the Threefold God, is believed to be the God created by the combination of the godhoods of Tyr, Helm, and Torm. Gedrin Shadowbane had a vision in which Helm was slain by Tyr and Helm's godhood merged with Tyr's. Later, Gedrin had another vision in which Tyr was killed by Orcus after which Tyr's essence merged with Torm's, creating Anselm: The Threefold God. Currently, The Eye of Justice are the only group who recognize and worship Anselm's godhood.
The Eye of Justice: This order is considered heretical by many Tormites due to their belief that Torm is part of Anselm; known as the "Heresy of the Threefold God" by the Tormites. Members of this sect have no pity or fear and some of the more fanatic groups use tactics some would consider questionable. The Order attracts outcasts from other orders as well as people seeking redemption for evil acts.
One of the actors from "In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale"... never seen the movie but when trying to figure out a 'face' for my character I tried to think of some obscure fantasy-esque movies and got that
