Not exactly a consensus…but usable, perhaps—we get the "traditional" tavern kickoff, having been raised in the same hometown, and having been employed by the same heroes' guild (or whatever)

Alright... I can work with this...
Thinking the initial setup will be as follows:
The party are all part of the local village watch (not official 'police' force but think volunteer good guys).
A Great Eviltm has risen up in the land and the king has called for volunteers throughout his land to come to the Big Citytm and aid in the fight.
Your adventure begins just as your party approaches the gates of the Big Citytm
Thoughts?

Works for me. As long as we have at least one bar fight, I am happy. It is Generica after all.

- "Nefaria is rattling its' sabers, threatening war"
- The king calls up the army; the barons, by oath, via their vassals, select some able-bodies to answer the call—PCs are "volunteered"
- is probably the capitol—still trying to come up with a good name for it, except that it's in the shadow of Castle Royal

That is the second time today I've scared the Post-docs by laughing out loud in the laboratory because of something you said.

Metrocity? What's the medieval equivalent? Well most capital cities were referred to as communia. If I remember right its Latin for "to wall together". Maybe use that in some way?

"Militia" is more likely—the "watch" tends to be a bit more random Nate no do old words/concepts good. "Nefaria is rattling its' sabers, threatening war" Damn Nefarians... probably in league with those purples The king calls up the army; the barons, by oath, via their vassals, select some able-bodies to answer the call—PCs are "volunteered" Nate also no do old political structures / bureaucracy good.... Anything else? Or is it essentially good to go for... Nov 30?

Damn Nefarians... probably in league with those purples I though the Nefarian color was purple. Purple and Black for the beat-downs they lay out... Is that plan then, I'm good with that. Alain, being Lawful Neutral, accepts that reporting to Metrocity/Kingsborough is his duty ... and it isn't like he had much else to do.

Or is it essentially good to go for... Nov 30? Seems reasonable. Could go as early as the 16th, if you like.

I though the Nefarian color was purple. Generica is purple. Elves are green. Hmm…

Well my schedule looks like:
Nov 2 (no game - Tulsa) Nov 9 Feng Shui Nov 16 (Unknown? Feng Shui?) Nov 23 (no game - Turkey Day!) Nov 30 - Generica Dec 7 - Generica Dec 14 - Generica Dec 21 - Generica Dec 28 - (no game, in Michigan) Jan 4 - Generica
I figured I'd start the 30th so we wouldn't have campaign start, week break, campaign continue.. Gives the campaign a good solid 4 weeks running before the first week off to get the momentum going

Crownsville?
Honestly, can't get more (appropriately) generic than Capital City, or something like that. I'd use King's Landing if it weren't so "tied" to SI&F1—good examples of sensible-but-generic town names

Call it "King's Port" and make sure its on the ocean. I like it, anyway—needs to be a port town

And then eventually, it's shortened to Kingsport. Could use Magnimar as the capital if we need a map... There are some really cool Magnimar pics out there...
