Was musing over our discussion last Fri regarding the GMing situation. I remembered why it was that I had back-burnered S3M: because of the "attendance issues." It doesn't lend itself to random no-shows, same as Red Sky (though maybe not as much). However, our experience of late has been that if more than one of us bails, everyone bails. Maybe it's just been bad timing, but if that's the continuing pattern, then it really doesn't matter what sort of campaign we're playing.
S3M is still a lot of work, maybe more than I want to suffer, but I remember now that it's not the primary reason for setting it aside.
Just an FYI. Doesn't change anything.

I'm game. If we can get Giger & CommJunkee in at least, that's three PCs. Maybe add Frito for four...

4 PCs would be ideal. 3 players just feels like BLAH for this kinda game.
Taking over the Doc as an NPC isnt too bad. but taking a functional part of the command staff just seems wrong. Could take Cheif Eng and Ops Cheif as well.

I've found this channel and thought it was very interesting for world-building with an eye towards realism (via physics, history, etc)
