Okay well my vote does not involve dynamite, sorry malevoiy. We also don't want to hurt these people since they are our neighbors. I'm fairly good at sneaking. Did the kid take lockpickin? We could get a distraction like an explosion or gunfire (don't want to set anything on fire too likely to cause bigger problems.) in one area while some people sneak through the back and quietly get J.J. out. The less killing we have to do the more likely the "people" will not want to start a lynch mob for us. If we could do this quiet like we are all more likely to survive. Of course no matter how we do it the sh*t is going to hit the fan soon enough.
Anyway thought I'd get the ball rolling.

We don't have enough information to make a good decision here. We need to know: - Layout of the town, and approaches to the jail area, and "hanging area" if need be
- Construction and layout of the jail itself (no doubt, some of us have seen the inside a time or two)
- Numbers & strengths of law enforcement personnel available
- Distance from our "base location," wherever that is (assuming the Ranch, ATM); specifically, we need to know how an observer might communicate his observations to the rest of the group.
- Guard rotations (determined by surveillance)
- Procedural timetable—how long will he be held?
- Disposition & intentions of the townsfolk (determined by surveillance); single out "ringleaders" if applicable
Finally, and really more importantly, we need an escape plan. Where will we go? How will we look after Maw? GM will need to provide Players with the safest location they can think of, even if it's just "far away as possible." We can fight/muddle our way through just about anything, but we need to plan for afterward.Barring that, there are a couple of things that Izzy will put forward. First, we need intelligence: someone will have to be watching the situation remotely. If it looks like something's going to happen (lynching, beatings, etc.), we need to be able to react quickly. Izzy will volunteer himself for as much as he can, since he can plug somebody that needs to be plugged without exposing himself too much. Secondly, he doesn't see any reason to go off half-cocked and try to break him out—everybody knows him, and are unlikely to either mistreat him or convict him—he's in no danger. We really need to wait it out, and see where public opinion is going. If it looks like they're going to hang him—even if we know it's only to draw us out—we'll have to move in.

*I agree that we don't need to be hasty because it is unlikely they are going to severely mistreat Johnny. *Explosive are not completely out of the question. they can be used in controlled amounts. That is what the skills purpose is. to know how to achieve objectives without blowing the living crap out of the object. In mining more is not the best solution. Also we are in Hollywood land like mike said dynamite doesn't react the same here. * I'm partial to a night engagement because it provides the only concealment we can get. Kansas isn't really known for having places to hide. It is also a small town so most people will recognize us. *We really need someone who isn't know as our friend in the town that can relay info from the trial and details of the town to us. * Unless we do this sneaky like we are most likely just going to be running for it. If we do that i say we set up a trap for the pursuers that slows them down without killing them.
